Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Seems an awful lot of people had a terrible nights sleep last night, FB is littered with status updates of people saying they couldnt sleep. How about you, sleep well last night?

What could it be down to? Is there a scientific reason? Related to the earthquake in England, or the solar eclipse at dawn this morning? Our proximity to the sun? Or is it just down to the stress of most people returning to work this morning?

Actually had a f*cked up dream this morning! All I remember is that I was still in it even with my eyes wide open.

Everyone had 'The Fear' after the Xmas drinking, people were imagining spiders in their bed, fellas with rats for eyes mauling them and just general fear about being in the dark!

It prob also didn't help that they only got out of bed at 2pm yesterday and then expected to fall asleep again at 11 or 12, you have to give a couple of days readjustment before the return of work!

Tonight was the 1st night I fell asleep quickly since the start of the Christmas holidays.

I slept really well last night though it could be because I went to bed really quite late.

Six hours spent with a 3 year old's feet stuck in the side of my neck.

Bad dream? You asked for the zombie story.

That's what I'll say. Next time.

Could it be that most people would be returning to their usual routines of college and work?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,097 ✭✭✭✭zuroph

    Poll added.

Have gotten a theory from an astronomer mate that its down to gravitational pull. Weird if true.

I was working over christmas but I think for me it felt more like guhh back to the same oul crap today.

I would have thought college wouldn't start back until next week?

work maybe, though aren't colleges off until the 10th?

I didn't sleep at all! I've been up since 11 yesterday. Now I'm waiting an hour so that I can go into a lecture and wait for an hour for that to finish and then go home and wait till it's late enough to go to sleep without waking up at 11 again.

I heard there was another eclipse last night as well. Perhaps it was the peculiar pulling of the sun/moon in this arrangement on peoples sleeping humours that did it.

I sort of had a shìt sleep, woke up at 6am on the dot and couldn't get back to sleep.

I got up at 8, had some toast, cursed at the threat of misery that was the drizzling rain but once I got into work I'm sound again............................that may be down to the jugs of coffee I've been having.

I should just buy an IV drip with coffee in it.

OP, most people slept badly because of returning to work, I'd say. Always the way, a bad night's sleep right when you need to get up early.

I had a weird nightmare about a tarantula that walked over a sandwich I had made and I had to throw it out.

It was a damn good sandwich too, such a waste.

Barely got any sleep last night and I'm pretty ticked off about it - I needed sleep badly after the last week I've had to live through.

    Nope, was up all night.:(
I woke up at 4pm yesterday, though so that could be the reason for it.
    I don't feel any tiredness whatsoever now.

A better nights sleep than I thought I would of had, the not drinking on Sunday may of helped though and gave me time to clear out the "horrors" on Sunday leading to a handy day on Monday... Still up at 04:45 though downstairs making coffee and watching the World News.

Slept ok once I turned the TV off. Woke up and remembered a strange dream that involved Eastenders characters, zombies and an ex, very strange indeed, I don't even watch Eastenders.

I've elbowed in the past alright...in fairness she has hit me in the buts with her knee too. I'll take a slight hit to the face or head over a knee to the nads!

I'm not the best sleeper to start with, I often stay up for 48 hours and still find it hard to fall sleep at the end of them, don't really have dreams or nightmares that I can remember either. I have been doing a rowing machine in the morning (resolution.1) and had a great nights sleep the first day I did it but crap ever since.

The late nights over the Christmas really fcuked up my sleeping pattern. Couldn't get to sleep until about 1am and was up for 8am.

Hopefully tonight will be a bit easier when I get my sleeping pattern back on track.

I got about 2 hours sleep last night, and even that was broken up with. Mixture of thinking about work as well as last night being the first night out of the previous 6 that I had no alcohol so DT's may have contributed.
