Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Has anyone any experience using

    http://www.procameradirect.com/

They have good prices but I'd like to hear some anecdotal accounts first
if anyone has experience of them?

    John.

The website is registered through a proxy in Canada, this is something a lot of dodgy operators do. If they won't tell you where they're based, I'd stay well away. There's no address or phone number listed on the website, also not very encouraging.

    Avoid.

Looks like a scam site to me, but I could be wrong.

No contact info - address, phone, etc

Having a quick look at it I wouldn't touch it with a 100 foot pole

If you need help finding a good on-line seller for camera gear I'd suggest going here http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=27

they sell on Amazon and they answer their email very promptly and have the UK version of the camera I'm interested in. (Canon EOS 7D)

Still, I suppose an extra £100 with a mainstream seller is not too much for peace of mind.

Thanks for the prompt advice, folks...:)

A 10% discount is not a lot when compared to the possibility of losing over £1000 if anything goes wrong.

Coupled with the import duty and VAT adding maybe another 30% to what you've paid, and the 10% cheaper price is suddenly 20% more expensive.

    Just bought my camera....... from
    http://www.parkcameras.com
    in the UK.

I dealt with them previously. Not the cheapest, but very efficient, reliable and knowledgeable... and bricks-and-mortar.

Once again, thanks to all who gave me wise council :)

Check kerso1123@msn.com - have bought a 450D (body + lens) off him. Does good prices. Pays UK VAT, so gives a UK warranty with the stuff (he imports the stuff from the US).
