Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all,

As the title suggests I'm having problems backing up all my data on my C drive from my PC onto an external hard drive. I keep getting the following after 32GB transfered (42GB in total)
A Bad sector found in your hard disk

    Hard drive replacement is recommended

    Continue Anyway?

When I press ok to continue, it doesn't transfer the remaining 10GB and after a few mins I get that message again.

I don't want to back up to DVD or my D drive on my computer

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Aaron

Replace the hard disk. The are cheap these days. Around €50 will get you a decent external drive. In fact you might be better installing a second drive in your computer and backing up your stuff there. The problem with externals is they are inclined to get rough housed/dropped.

The question you need to ask yourself is how much is your data worth! You could run a test onn your existing disk and mark the bad sectors but is it worth the risk. The disk is not the best now.

    Thanks for the reply,

My external hard drive is relatively new and I didn't want to save it on my D drive (i have my 500GB internal drive partitioned 250GB each into C & D drive).

I ended up scanning my external hard drive with Bullguard and removing the virsus software on it and it worked.
