Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

GSXR 750 Problem

Hi, mate has an 07 750 and it wouldn't start the other day and F1 light was on.

He got a battery for it and it started no bother. I put a multimeter on it and it does not appear to be charging. Only getting 12.1 volts at the battery.

All the fuses appear ok and the leads look good.

Any words of wisdom for me?

Qualified mechanic but never worked on bikes...

12.1 at idle or at ~3k RPM?

No difference from what I could see

Bit low I think, reg/rec on the way out maybe (do the new GSXRs have reg/recs?)

I don't know, was kinda hoping someone would be able to tell me.

I think that the 12v I am getting is just what the battery is supplying. I told him to leave it running with the lights on and that I'd check to see was the voltage dropping.

I am assuming that you need 13 + volts to charge

Yup, over 13 volts with lights on

If it's anything like my Gixxer 600, it should be charging 14V at 6k revs. Dunno about the 07 models, but definitely a charging circuit problem. Did you get your hands on a Haynes manual?

I'd be about 99% that that's the issue - quick fix, much easier than on a car. Plug out old, plug in new.

I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

    Thanks for that.

I should be able to get one off another bike to try it. Where is it located?

On my SV it's behind the tail unit, on the right side of the bike
