Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Has anybody got a spare tripod they'd be willing to lend a poor student for thursday night? :o

I'll be super careful, and you can supervise if you wish :P

Going to give that D200 a good workout? :) How's it going for you so far?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,182 ✭✭✭Tiriel

I'm hoping to make it along to this aswell and have asked Snorlax to join me - so that's two more!

I have yet to get a tripod - but did order a joby slr gorilla-pod and hoping that it will arrive on time and will be enough for the evening!

yep, dying to try out some night shots too :D it's going pretty well, much different to my d3000, but I've gotten a grip with it, and I'm just waiting to get a chance to make some good shots with it

    - Well we will have enough 'flashes'! :p

Those who have registered interest have received PM's with my phone number.

This allows you to contact me if:
    - you are running late
    - you are lost
    - you find free beer icon_biggrin.gif

If you are running late, and don’t have my number, you will find us walking down towards the new white bridge that looks like a harp on it’s side (Samuel Beckett Bridge), crossing over that bridge and walking back towards Grand Canal Dock.

    Regards,
    Will

Barring work keeping me late I'll come along too! Only got a mini-tripod now but it'll make it interesting :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,250 ✭✭✭pixbyjohn

There is great interest in this walkabout, maybe it might be wise to break it up into 2 groups where group 1 can take a clockwise route and group 2 take anticlockwise route or maybe the 30 plus of us can commandeer O'Connell Bridge for a few hours

  • Registered Users Posts: 424 ✭✭SinisterDexter

It is a big group. There is no clockwise/anti-clockwise. If you cross the bridge closest to The Point you end up at a toll gate. No road leading back.

Where did you get 46? I got 47 and that doesn't include a few twitters.

    It will all be fine.

If you are walking up the docks, even after 7:30, and you meet guys/gals with cameras PLEASE! PLEASE! continue on up the The Point. You are looking for me, wearing a beanie cap/hat saying ZSL on it, seen here and I'll tell you what the story is.

The *aim* is to get as far as Grand Canal Dock - which *may be private property and you *may get hassled by security (see below) - and the final meeting point (pub) is The Ferryman (go back towards Samuel Beckett).

    Grand Canal Dock/Security:
I asked and nobody on here responded, but I have heard *rumours, that Grand Canal Dock is private land (just like the IFSC IS)
IF you have taken Photos, Security Can NOT make you delete them. Just walk away the way you came.
I have been in the Grand Canal Dock on a previous Photowalk (now I'm showing how bad my photos can be) and have not seen security.
DO NOT ANTAGONIZE, if there is security then it is private land. You may be amateur but anything you take CAN NOT be sold IF it is private land.

This is purely a side note. Everything else should be fine.

    Last but not least:
Thank you ALL for your interest.
I hope it meets your expectations.
Have fun, talk to strangers (with cameras) and come out waiting for the next walk.

    Regards,
    Will

I've a spare tripod, but the quick release plate is missing (camera was stolen) I can bring it along if somebody wants to rest their camera on it.
It might help if there are no seats/fences/bins to use.

Would you use a Monopod, I can loan you one. It would be a pity if you have to miss this walkabout.
My spare tripods are taken by Chevron, frag420 and Xia's friend.
Anyone else with spare tripods please bring them along.

If my Gruupy gorillapod doesn't arrive in the morning I'll either be leaning on walls and railings or I'll be needing to borrow.

I'd love to see one security guy try to tell over 40people that they cant take pics !!! ... lol.... surround him and everyone flashing (their flashes).

I will bring a tripod into work tomorrow - maybe 2 if I can find the second one (if someone wants to borrow - drop me a PM - I'll be in the Four Courts)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,725 ✭✭✭✭Squidgy Black

I've sorted a tripod out, SinisterDexter's offered to loan me one, but thanks a lot for the offers guys :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,756 ✭✭✭Thecageyone

Looks like I will be able to join you lot after all :) Thanks to Borderfox, fair play.

I have a cheap old tripod here but it's a bit dodgy, the handle that holds the main plate upright won't tighten, it's fine if you keep hold of it. It has a quick release [which might fit the one that's missing it as mentioned by foamcutter?
