Identify the book from the plot

05-01-2011 04:26PM#1I'm hoping someone here can help me identify a sci-fi book I read probably 15 years ago. The basic plot line is murder mystery in the setting of professional fantasy role players performing competitively as real time broadcast entertainment (if my rendering of the plot is inaccurate please forgive my failing memory
). If anyone recognises the book and can name it for me I'd appreciate it
