Iphone and facebook chat

for anyone who has a iphone and uses facebook chat on it, do they automatically log into their facebook when they go on their phone as often I notice friends who I talk to on facebook who use facebook on the iphone, come up as "idle" as in the half moon stance on chat the minute they log on but when we chat normally its fully green. Often when I bring up chat they dont reply when its idle, but it comes up as idle the minute they log on.....hope Im not being paranoid at this stage...lol.
