Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So guys I'm pretty new to photography and was thinking of buying this lens for my Canon D450 as I hear good things.

Can you guys throw up some shots you've taken with this lens??

    Much appreciated.

Cheers for the reply. I already googled some sample pics but was hoping to see some more realistic shots taken by everyday people who use the lens.

This one with cheap 52mm close-up lens.

None of these shots show the real advantage of the 'nifty fifty' over the 18-55mm kit lens.
The 50mm f/1.8 is good for low light and/or shallow DOF.

I used mine quite a bit when i first started out, really handy, and worth it price wise. It was my walkabout lens, but i'v since upgraded.

    I would recommend it though.

I've mainly use my 50mm 1.8 on my 400D, and it is an amazing lens some example shots of what was done with it:

100% my favourite lens. Great for portraits, and for less than €100 its a no-brainer. Do it!

Hello Smokie, what are you planning on using it for? Remember the equivalent focal length (efl) is 80mm on a cropped sensor like the 450D so it's good for portraits but a bit long if you're trying to get a group of people into the shot in a confined space.

30mm would be better for general use but they're more expensive. Can't go too far wrong at this price though!

Quality little lens worth the few bob if you have it, i don't use it as much as i should but it's always handy to have there.

Wow some great shots there and it seems its all positive feedback so I'm defiantly going to go ahead and buy one tomorrow. Looking forward to it now after seeing some of these shots.

Thats a shame to be honest because I was hoping it would be good for that kind of thing but not the end of the world as I still have the stock lens.

The main reason I was thinking about getting one was for portraits really.

Keep them coming guys and thanks.
