Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

kpn replacing an LNB, for most people, is a DIY job... Do you have a new LNB already? Also, do you have a ladder that can reach the dish?

BTW, you should also tell us where, in the country, you are so someone in the same area can reccomend an installer - if you really need one

Why would you want to fit a broken LNB?
If it's a Sky LNB, it won't perform well on a non-oval dish anyway.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your replies.

May be its easy to fix the new LNB onto the dish arm, but in this case, my LNB holder is broken.
I don't know how to take off the broken holder from the dish and find a new holder to fix the another LNB I have (this LNB doesn't come with the holder),

So first I want to try to is there a way to put back the old LNB (by getting new holder) if that doesn't work then I want to put the new LNB (I need the holder for this, its small Universal LNB).

I'm based in city west, Dublin.

    Regards
    Hari

LNB's come with the holders-if you can't get the old broken one out, simply tap it down into the arm.Tony at http://satellite.ie/acatalog/LNBs.html will sort you out.

No, only Sky LNBs come with the holders. The OP said his dish is NOT a Sky minidish so his LNB holder is part of the dish.

As the holder in this case must match the dish (to ensure that the LNB is at the exact focal point and pointing at the dish centre) he needs to determine the name of the dish manufacturer and obtain the LNB holder for his specific dish.

As I said in my post and link,Tony at satellite.ie who posts here has all types of lnb's in stock.A quick email would probably determine what's needed.

My non-sky dish size is same size as SKY dish(I've SKY dish separately).

The broken LNB (which needs the holder) is a Thomson LNB. Even if I took out the broken holder, I need a holder to fix the new universal LNB since the new one don't have the holder.

OK, so it IS a Sky minidish? (I think a photo is required at this point because we're going in circles.)

See picture of a typical LNB adapter here:

I got my dish re-aligned by http://www.tvsolutions.ie/, based in south dublin. Content with the work done. They supply parts as well, so probably can replace your LNB.

    Hi,
I sent a mail to Tony@sattelite.ie, he also asked the photo of the disk to determine what type of holder would be required.

Here is photo of my dish & the broken LNB.

It's an ancient Sky dish branded "Channel Master" with a (thin 10mm "finger") MK1 LNB holder (no longer available). You might strike lucky and find someone with a suitable LNB and holder or you might end up having to replace the complete dish assembly.

Later dishes were designed for thicker "fingers" to prevent snapping.

I'm not so sure its the thin arm Liameter, looks like a standad mark 3 sky minidish the same as the other dish in the picture. @ KPN looks like the lnb housing you kindly emailed me would not be suitable for a round clamp (like the other dish in the pic) so I think replacing the lnb is probably your cheapest option.

Zoom in on the other dish-the fittings for the arm are identical, you can pop out that holder with a flat head screwdriver or knife.(on a side note, insulating tape is not recommended on f-connectors outdoors, water gets into it and causes hassle.Use amalgamating tape instead.)

I think you may be right. There's a Channel Master dish picture on this page:
    http://www.satcure.com/accs/quad_sky_lnb.htm

It doesn't appear to have the plastic "packing piece" around the LNB "finger".

So a MK3 LNB adapter should do the trick IF it will fit the LNB. But I tend to agree with Tony that a new LNB might be the simple answer.

Great info on that page, should make all clear

Thanks to all for your valuable suggestions.
I will try to get the broken holder from the dish some time this week.

As for as LNB, I have another LNB (its a Universal LNB, mini one), this don't come with the holder .

may be I will send the photo to Tony to see if there is any suitable holder available for the LNB which will fit into the dish .
Otherwise I will buy the new LNB as suggested.
