Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

More Police Deployed in Terror Fear!

Sky News understands increased numbers of British Transport Police officers are being deployed at transport hubs in the London area amid continuing fears of a New Year terrorist attack.

members of the emergency services have recently been briefed about how to respond to a Mumbai-style attack on the capital

The UK's terror threat level remains at its second highest level - severe - meaning an attack is highly likely.

Sky's security editor Sam Kiley said transport police are being told they have to cancel days off tomorrow and there will be a heavy presence across the capital and as far as Luton and Heathrow.

Sam Kiley said: "If you look back over recent terrorist attacks and terrorist attempts, a lot of them have been fairly amateurish and there has been recently an effort by al Qaeda supporting groups to get a grip on that and come up with more sophisticated ways of building bombs and indeed evading security services."

It's only a matter of time before an attack gets through in Britain. The home-grown terrorist element is only going to increase in the coming years.

There's no such thing as Al Queda, just a bunch of nutjobs blowing stuff; media get hold of it and say thay are linked to 9-11, but don't say how.

they are linked in that they want to blow stuff up.
they are linked because they both like paryers and pizza
they are linked because one has an uncle on holidy in Egypt

How is more cops gonna stop someone from blowing up a target in a suicide attack? Ask "Is a honey monster a bear?"

What is the purpose for this thread OP?
Why did you post to let us know more police are being deployed in a foreign country?

"Attack", "Imminent", "Expected", "Alert", "Threat level raised", "Leave cancelled", "Vigilance", "Terra/Terror", "Bali style attack", "Mumbai style attack", "Lone attacker", "Multiple attacks expected"..........and on and on it has been going now as we near the first decade after 9/11.

The language of fear and hype generates both viewers and profit. Of course if you keep telling someone for long enough, what to do and how to to do it. Then it's inevitably the challenge will eventually be taken up by some extremist/nut!

What next? Perhaps they'll launch an alert for a 'Jihadist' expected to launch a Swine Flu attack as he runs down the platform at Liverpool street station or King Cross.

I'm sure plenty of people are interested to hear of possible terrorist attacks on our closest neighbour and a country where many Irish people live

    *Yawn*

Between this and 2 post office American bombs, seriously if we reacted during the 60's/'70s North troubles like the Americans/British are doing right now, we'd be shaking in our boots right now still if we allow this low level crap to (wrongly) get to us!

Its all a load of overblown (no pun intended) bull!

The proper authorities will get on with the job of investigating and protecting - while others will ramp this crap up for their own means and ends!
Me? I'm going to crack open another bottle of larger and relax!
