Time to cut out FA Cup replays?

Should the FA Cup get rid of the replay system it employs? Lets face it the FA Cup has lost its sparkle over the past decade with a lot of the PL teams dropping a lot of first-team regulars for it. We all know the League is the bread and butter of every club so why not try scrap the whole replay idea and just play ET and then penos. It might spicen up the FA Cup again. Fair enough it is great cash for the lower league teams and their "giant-killings" but it has become more of a chore for the top teams, at least until the 1/4 finals.

Im sure all the big clubs would like to get rid of replays but it can be a massive earner for some of the smaller clubs if they get draws with the big teams.

Voted no, there's more to football than appeasing a few clubs who can do without the trouble of a couple of extra games a season.

No its not - Yes it would suit the top premier league clubs but that doesn't make it right.

The gap between the top and the bottom will just keep getting bigger if you get rid of replays. People who voted yes at least give your reasons.

Replays = More money for The FA.

    Therefore they won't be stopped.

No. Football is about more than the Liverpool's,Arsenal's and United's of this World.

I voted yes because football should be sculpted to suit the big clubs. After all, without the big clubs where would we be? Where would football be without all the money and the whims of the Champions League clubs?

I've been of this opinion ever since football was invented....... in 1992 when the Premiership was formed.

Yes because the calender is congested enough as it is without replays for a cup thats as important the Carling Cup these days (afaik the rewards are the same - a EL spot). The players have enough games as it is without the replays. Its unfair to ask the big clubs to play more games just so smaller teams can get in more revenue, especially in the second half of the season when the knockout stages of the European competitions are played.. Plus it would make the games far more interesting if there were penalties at the end..

Kinda sad people actually think like this.

"If there was noone at the bottom, you can never be top."

Maybe they'll do a gradual phasing out of the replays. They've done some of it already, did away with final replay, then semi final replays, so the quarters would probably be next.

Congested you say? Well, you are only allowed have 11 players on the field at any one point right? And teams are allowed have 25 registered league and cup players and as many U21 players as they have right?

    I don't see the problem.

Yeah I suppose you're right... Most teams only use 11 players these days, they're all such fitness freaks...

The chance of a replay goes some way to taking away the fact that it is a bit unfair some teams could get home draws all the way to the final while others get sticked with away games.
