Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Canon A1 with 50m & 70-210 lenses

I'm happy out with my new Canon 550D having had a 20yr sabatical from photography. My first introduction was the Canon A1 and I really enjoyed taking photos, but gave up for a while because of the disappointment with some of the shots when they came back from the developers.

Anyhoo, the A1 is sitting on top of the shelf in my wardrobe and I'll never use it again. Does anyone want it? I don't mean for sale, just cover the post and package. PM me if you are interested and it will go to whoever promises to make a donation to a charity of their choice.

In the event of a few people interested, I'll discuss with them off thread

    Cheers

    Me please!

My dad used to have gear like that when i was a very very young pup but he had to sell it to help feed me! I've always wanted to have try an old skool camera - and im sure he'd love a go on it as well

    Whoo hoo !!

One of the joys of being online about 10 hours straight today whilst lying in bed recovering from the flu (and that wasn't even part of my tear gerkin story that swung it!)

Thanks a million oldyouth. It will definitely be put to use and a donation will be made!

Ah come on, That story has worked for Kev here at least a hundred times - and, what's more he picked it up on sobstoriesforsale.com -- yeah, it was a sample story, he didn't even buy it ;) (where's that evil 'muu haaa haa haarrrrrr' coming from?)

Nice one & very generous oldyouth - Have fun with the joys of digital

    Well done Kev - enjoy!

    :)

Nothing to do with photography but I'm really buying in to this Karma thing. Good things happen to good people and I reckon I'm in arrears on that front. One step at a time to redress the balance :)

We need more people in this Country like you OP, fair play, and I too promise to put €10 in a charity box at the weekend because of your kind gesture.

So....look what showed up in the middle of last week!

    5388746978_13f8e7b1de_z.jpg

I've taken about 12-15 shots on it since last weekend - can't wait to fill the roll up and get them developed. But i'd so much different that digital, I'm really conscious of what I'm point the lens at and making sure the settings are right so I don't waste a shot!

Oh and the manual focus via the viewfinder.....dunno how the science behind it, but when the subject isn't in focus the top half of the centre cross hair doesn't line up with the bottom half....its pretty awesome to be honest!

PS - Tallon is a top man too for sorting me out with film to get me started.....even though when we 1st started trying it we he though there was some really old film in it. Was 2 days later before my dad took one look at it before telling me there was no film in it :o:o:D......reckon i took some masterpieces in those two days as well :D:D

I'd forgotten to reply to this. Yeah the camera has been out a few times alight - most recently to Slane. Its definitely a very steep learning curve but i'm really enjoying it.....if only I could remember to bring it more often and actually get around to developing the film.

(Unfortunately I got a Canon 7D very close to the time as well so there was stiff competition on which to use! :D )

#3 swings it for me there, and not because of the beer, but because of the stunning colours.

    Very, very, nice.
