Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A tasty one to get your teeth into at this hour of the morning :D

Prompted not just by the Roy Keane debate (again), but also by the news that Alan Smith may return to Leeds after committing the ultimate sin of leaving them for Manchester United.

So who are the biggest turncoats and traitors in football?

The one which always sticks out in my mind is this guy. I'm not a Spurs supporter, but I remember the absolute horror when he left Spurs for free, having led them on for months and months saying he was gonna stay, and joined Arsenal of all teams.

Have to disagree with this one. While United supporters get their knickers in a bunch over Tevez, they also refuse to believe or accept that Tevez was willing to stay and was shown no loyalty by Man Utd.

I think it's very unfair to feck a player about and show him no respect and them b1tch about him moving to a rival, even if that rival in ManCity

There's a decent article in 4-4-2 magazine this month about Graham Turner and his move from Hereford United where he served as manager, chairman and owner, to their fierce rivals - Shrewsbury Town where he now serves as manager. The Hereford fans see him as a turncoat and a judas obviously! Not quite as glamorous as Owen or Figo mind you. Amusingly, the first line of the wikipedia article on Shrewsbury Town currently reads:

"Shrewsbury Town Football Club Are a bunch of Sheepshaggers, based in Shrewsbury, Wales."

It takes something special to get a pigs head thrown at you so ya Figo would be the most high-profile.

Glen Crowe, though he made up for it to a certain extent.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

But the worst is Sol Campbell. I actually lost interest in football for 3-4 years after that happened. It jaded me.

Course it was, sure I said as much in the OP! The other thread brought up the topic of traitors and lord knows there's been plenty in the game, not just Royston (if indeed he is one).

Anyway if looked a little closer you would see that I'm not a soccer mod so have no control over content in the forum. I'm sure if you report it one of the actual mods will be happy to lock it and hand out whatever punishment is deemed necessary.

Until then I'll continue to enjoy the names being offered (nobody else has even mentioned Keane btw).

Don't see how Owen can be classed as a turncoat or traitor when you consider his situation. He looked like he was washed up, was desperate to play for his country again but that seemed like a forlorn hope, and then all of a sudden United offered him a lifeline. He would have been bonkers not to sign. I say the same about Sparky taking on the City job. I'm still annoyed that he got flak from certain quarters over going there as it was a chance too good for him to pass up.

Tevez springs to mind for me considering his talk about not wanting to go to a rival club like Liverpool and then he went and signed for City. Heinze if the move to Liverpool had gone through. Pleasantly surprised that Stephen Ireland hasn't been mentioned here.

For the way he left Inter after all the club did for when he suffered those injuries, but he is still the best player I have ever seen play.

Meh, still crossed the divide and the only useful thing he ever did for Spurs was score a belter against us in the 4-4 DVD Extravaganza Game.

Playing one game for Arsenal, and then joining spurs 4 years later can hardly be considered Traitorism to be fair.

Kewell's transfer to Galatasaray provoked strong criticism from fans of his former team Leeds United as he was a Leeds player when two of their fans were killed in clashes before a UEFA Cup semi-final against Galatasaray in Istanbul in April 2000

    Per week?

    Whoops yeah, per week.

@ DOC09UNAM: Don't care what you say but for most fans crossing the divide at any stage of a career is a no-no.

In recent memory; Bentley, Gallas and Rohan Ricketts are the only ones who've done it from our end.
