World XI. One club, one player.

Following on from SlickRic's recent thread, I thought it would be interesting to see everyone pick a world XI, with the only rule being that you can only pick one player from each club.

    It's not easy.

Here's what I came up with

    Reina (Liverpool)

    Maicon (Inter)
    Ferdinand (Man Utd)
    Chiellini (Juventus)
    Coentrao (Benfica)

    Schweinsteiger (Bayern)
    Fabregas (Arsenal)
    Essien (Chelsea)

    Ronaldo (Real)
    Forlan (Atletico)
    Messi (Barcelona)

Lots of good players left out, and I'm not sure about the defence.

Anyway, be interesting to see what you can all come up with!!

    Julio Cesar (Inter)

    Lahm (Bayern Munich)
    Thiago Silva (Milan)
    Chiellini (Juventus)
    Evra (Manchester Utd)

    Essien (Chelsea)
    De Rossi (Roma)
    Fabregas (Arsenal)

    Messi (Barcelona)
    Ronaldo (Real Madrid)
    Torres (Liverpool)

I'm not sure about having De Rossi. I wanted to find another RB to replace Lahm and then put Schweinsteiger in midfield instead of De Rossi.

    Lol!

    Yeah.

You won't find many better performances than Rio's 2008 season. His peak was incredible.

But thanks for trying to fúck up the thread so early. The pissing contest doesn't usually start until page 2.

Any teams without the following are void.

    Walter Samuel
    Leo Messi
    Christiano Ronaldo

He has gone into serious decline IMO.

The only times I've seen him is against Tottenham when Bale tore him a new one on both occassions, so you could be right. I'd be happy enough with Lahm at RB and de Rossi instead of Schweinsteiger.

    Ah ok, fair enough then.

    I should have clarified.

I didn't mean that teams had to be based solely on this season's performances. But it's not meant to be an all-time XI either.

Just a world XI, picked from all active players. Only rule being - one club, one player.
All other criteria is down to the indivdual poster.

Le King's team is the nuts. Maybe Schweinsteiger in for De Rossi (put a traffic cone at right back or something) as I have serious man-love for old Bastian, but otherwise what I'd go for.

Yup. I know most wont agree with it but this past year anytime I've seen him he's been the standout player, great ball winner and excellent distribution to boot. Outside the of the big clubs he's the best DM that I've watched play this year.

    We differ on 2 players...
If I'd have thought of putting Lahm at right full, I'd have put cole at left full. and then we'd only be one player out.

and Pastore is just more exciting than VdV.

For me as a united fan, rio is our most important player. Injury curtailed him in 09 and part of 10 but look at uniteds stats in that period without him v with him. He has been super since he.came back late last september, thats not just my opinion, its backed up by stats.
