Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    http://www.vg247.com/2011/05/27/spec-ops-and-survival-mode-detailed-for-modern-warfare-3/

the Spec Ops mode contains a progressive ranking system, matchmaking, leaderboards, and the above referenced survival mode on the multiplayer maps.

“All that stuff really fleshes out Spec Ops and adds in a lot that we know our fans are going to love, some of the most addictive aspects of Multiplayer,” said Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling.

One map is called Dome, which has waves of enemies coming at you in a “desert radar command bunker,” which looks straight out of the Cold War era. With in-game currency you can purchase a turret to help you out with said waves and attack dogs, some of which are also suicide bombers that explode after you shoot them. Same goes for kamikaze soldiers.

“You definitely have to change up your strategy as the enemy changes up,” Bowling said. “Obviously how you fight the kamakazi dudes is different from how you fight the normal dudes and how you fight a dog is different from a dude and how you fight juggernauts, they are not only big and armored, so they will just brute force come at you. But they each have their own way of being taken out effectively.”

“We have all been challenged. There’s such hard-core players out there in the online community and you hear all the stories about the 8-year-olds, 12 year-olds and 13-year-olds swearing and ruining the experience,” added Sledgehammer’s Michael Condrey.

“With Spec Ops, you can really get in there and hone your skills in a more confined environment. I think it’s a little more of an easy entry. I don’t have as much time as I did when I was 20 to be honing my twitch skills, but this certainly gives me a venue to experiment.”

Modern Warfare 3 will deploy on November 8 for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. Expect to see and hear more of it out of E3.

This survival mode sound class, looking forward to that.
Have played reach's vrsion and although I hated the main game / most of the multiplayer th survival mode was good fun with mates.

Lol have to laugh at certain posters view of MW2 as the "micheal bay" installment.... whiffs of jumping on the mw2 bashing bandwagon simply cause its the in thing to do these days. It had a lot of flaws but over all was simply the more exciting game to play vs blops. Something about IW , they seemed to give it that AAA sheen / addictivness.

One gripe I would have with all the official material shown so far is that it doesnt so far seem to stand out as much as MW2 did as opposed to mw1. They certainly felt like different games in terms of overall feel and actual gameplay. The mw3 material so far seems to be nearly identical in over all feel to the promo material for mw2. That could all change once we see gameplay footage of mw3.

Dont Know If This Has Been Posted:
Today, Activision has confirmed that a 60-second MW3 advertisement during tomorrow’s Champions League final between Barcelona and Manchester United will bring their largest ever reveal campaign to a closure.

The minute longer trailer will be shown during the final, which is to be televised on Sky Sports 1 and ITV. The ad will be the final act from Activision in regards to the Modern Warfare 3 reveal campaign – one which Activision has hailed as the largest ever campaign for the Call of Duty franchise.

The popularity and aniticipation for the game has never be cast into doubt, with the 4 mw3 teaser trailers which were released on May 14th, already generating closer to 8 million views. This will no doubt have been aided by the full reveal trailer which was shown worldwide and televised during the NBA Western Conference finals. Furthermore, Activision launched a huge campaign on MSN to target it’s UK market audience.

Activisions European marketing director, Daniel Green went on to say,

“We’re really excited to start showing our fans what they can expect from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, with over 7m YouTube views of our reveal trailer since it was released on Tuesday, it seems our fans are just as excited.”

    .
A list has appeared online which claims to contain all of the perks and killstreaks that will appear in Modern Warfare 3.
A user over on the Undisputed Online forums has posted the list and mentions that his source came from someone who had played the game at the pre-E3 event that happened earlier this week.
    The full list can be found below;

    Perk 1 :
    Name: Covert
Feature I: The first feature to the Perk ‘Covert’ stops the enemy from viewing their killcam when they are killed by you. The main feature also prevents deathmarks from being placed when you kill a member of the enemy team making it hard for hostile forces to pinpoint your location.
Feature II: The second feature to ‘Covert’ allows you to remain hidden from enemy UAVs. In addition you will no longer render a red name or crosshair when an enemy is close to you.
Feature III: The final feature is as expected, you remain hidden from all enemy killstreak rewards making it easy to venture throughout the map without having any trouble from any killstreak reward owned by a hostile player with the exception of Counter UAVs.

    Name: Recon
Feature I: The main feature to the Perk ‘Recon’ allows you to gain killstreak rewards with one less kill than normally required. This is the ‘traditional’ feature to Hardline in the last two games.
Feature II: You can now switch your airdrops one time for a chance to get a better reward by double tapping the Square (ps3) or the X (xbox). In addition you can also capture enemy airdrops faster. And finally you can detect when a hostile has booby trapped an airdrop.
Feature III: The final feature is slightly more complicated. Let’s say an enemy calls in an airstrike, well on your screen you will see a long red line showing exactly where the airstrike is going to hit, this is also shown on your minimap. The same goes for when an enemy calls in a helicopter, you will be able to see exactly where they called it in to. Overall this Perk is mainly for players who want to benefit with their team and on their own depending on which features they choose to act on.

    Name: Specialist
Feature I: The main feature to this Perk allows you to move faster similarly to Lightweight from previous games. Not much else to say about this.
Feature II: The second feature to Specialist allows you to run for a longer duration much like Marathon from previous games. Again, not much else to say on the second feature to Specialist.
Feature III: The third and final feature of Specialist allows you to walk crouched or prone faster.

    Name: Scavenger
Feature I: Pretty obviously the main feature to Scavenger allows you to resupply from dead enemies, from this you can resupply rounds and lethal grenades.
Feature II: The second feature to this Perk allows you to resupply tactical grenades and equipment from dead enemies.
    Feature III: HAVEN’T DECIDED.

    Perk 2 :
    Name: Sleight of Hand
Feature I: The main feature to Sleight of Hand allows you to reload all weapons faster. Not much else to it.
Feature II: The second feature to Sleight of Hand gives you the ability to ADS faster.
Feature III: The final feature to Sleight of Hand allows you to switch weapons faster. Not much else to this Perk.

    Name: Reflexes
Feature I: The main feature of ‘Reflexes’ allows you to use your knife a lot quicker.
Feature II: The second feature to ‘Reflexes’ grants you less flinch when shot at.
Feature III: The final feature to ‘Reflexes’ allows you to crouch/prone/stand up a lot quicker.

    Name: Sharpshooter
Feature I: The main feature of this Perk doesn’t reduce your recoil but it makes it more controllable and more predictable. For example, it will recoil more in the middle and top rather than to the left and right every so often, this Perk doesn’t decrease recoil, that’s what Grip is for.
Feature II: The second feature to Sharpshooter increases your hip fire accuracy.
Feature III: The final feature to Sharpshooter reduces your idle sway, you can also hold your breath longer if you have a sniper rifle equipped.

    Name: Bling
Feature I: Allows you to equip three attachments to your primary weapon (default being 2).
Feature II: The second feature to Bling allows you to equip two attachments on your secondary (default being 1).
Feature III: The final feature to Bling allows you to equip two pieces of equipment.
NOTE: This Perk cannot be combined with a Grenade Launcher, and normally Grenade Launchers take up two attachments.

    Name: Weapon Master
Feature I: The first feature to ‘Weapon Master’ replaces your secondary with another primary weapon.
Feature II: The second feature allows you to drop no weapon on death.
Feature III: The third and final feature allows you to equip a pistol of your choice along side.

    Perk 3 :
    Name: Bandoiler
Feature I: This Perk is pretty much the pro to Scavenger along with some extra helpful features. The main feature to this Perk allows you to spawn with full ammunition at the start of matches and every time you respawn. Very helpful when it comes to big games, combined with Scavenger this feature makes it dominant.
Feature II: The second feature to this Perk allows you to have up to two lethal grenade slots and three tactical grenade slots. You also spawn with the extra grenades.
Feature III: The third and final feature of this Perk allows you to hold three extra magazines onto your loadout. So if your gun usually holds 200 bullets and each mag was 30 bullets you would end up with 290 bullets, if you combine this with Scavenger it will be dominant over one man army and teamplay operations.

    Name: Tactician
Feature I: Allows you to take no falling damage.
Feature II: You can throw grenades quicker and farther.
Feature III: The final feature to ‘Tactician’ allows you to reset the fuse on grenades when throwing them back.

    Name: Infiltrator
Feature I: Your footsteps are silent.
Feature II: Enemy equipment no longer affects you unless it’s a proximity explosive.
Feature III: Your knifing, defusing, reloading and etc is now silent.

    Name: Engineer
Feature I: You can see enemy equipment through walls.
Feature II: You can now booby trap enemy airdrops and you can hack enemy equipment.
Feature III: Finally, you can defuse the bomb quicker in bomb based game modes.

    Name: Navigator
Feature I: Enemies who have shown on the radar now last longer before fading, in addition it also shows the direction enemies are facing.
Feature II: You are no longer affected by Counter UAVs.
Feature III: Finally, enemies close to you will get their radar slowly jammed, the closer they get.

    Killstreaks
    3) Mortar Team (1 location)
    3) UAV
    4) Counter UAV
    4) SAM Turret
    4) Care Package
    5) Precision Air Strike
    5) Sentry Gun
    6) Artillery (3 location)
    6) PredatorMissle
    7) Attack Helicopter
    7) Stealth Bomber
    8 ) Harrier Airstrike
    8 ) GlobalHawk (blackbird effect)
    9) Fire Scout UAV (uav + attackhelicopter effect)
    9) Pavelow
    9) Emerygency airdrop (4 Package)
    9) EMP (last for 60 sec)
    13) AC130
    15) Chopper Gunner
18 ) Nuclear EMP (Disable Perks for opponent team for 30sec only, Eletronics and Air Killstreaks wont be destoryed.)
    25) Tactical Nuke

Read that list yday. It is bull**** through and through. It will not fit the game and all the perks are game breaking.
The actual source is dodgy as hell so it is not even worth considering that they are true. (Original poster was talking to a guy who's brother was involved with the setting up of the MW3 stall)

I have to say I'm also very sceptical about this as there is no new additions in the list, its all MW2+Blops stuff.

Its like, "hey, what are the two worst aspects of blops and mw2? Ghost and Commando? Why don't we just give them a new name and make them both much stronger? And we won't bring back second chance and oma/dc, so we''ll look like we've done a good job"

Well I don't see how they can get rid of 'camping' friendly perks...they are a necessity for snipers.

If that list is to be believed, (which it shouldn't), just start looking at combinations of perks that can counteract it.

Ahhhh you seem to be mistaking the skill of sniping for what known as "hardscoping" in COD.... you see most people quick scope (can be identified by the tragic loss of points on the leaderboard after the match and usually under gamer tag zZdeZiRseZxzor something of the likes. Also whinging about beng murderded by a barrage of aa12 rounds :D )
You see these types of players call it "hardscoping" becuase if they call it sniping they then by inferrence admit that quick scoping is NOT sniping and then loose any attached respect for the skill of sniping.

You'd find that quick scopers dont use any perks or equipment that a sniper would use (ninja / cold blodded etc) and wouldnt care less if sniper friendly perks were removed becuase they are not snipers.

    - In ref to the hopefully fake list of perks......
Holy baby jeeezzzus I hope nearly none of that is true!
Some of them perks are a recipe for disaster.
Also - nuke emp??? wtf, all that work for the grand reward of removing enemy perks for 30 seconds??? Yeah, that'll be worh it

Also good idea though for the attachemnt "slots", sights and the likes taking up one slot while tubes taking all of them would be a better idea though. - Strike that, tubes being skinned to look like underslung c**ks would be a BETTER idea.

As much as I bitch about quick scoping its just utterly ridiculous.
Was playing TDM the other day on Karachi and as the game started I hit the two story building by the bus / cafe. Ran to the overlooking window to see a quick scoper run to the dark ally at the side (from my team), fine I says I'll be the team player and provider overwatch (funnily, thats what a SNIPER should be doing) . Suddenly the QS hits the deck... another QS is in the allyway and coming twords firing, the two end up jumpng, dodging, proning for about 15 seconds in the courtyard staying to use sniper rifles like pistols until one gives up and switches to secondary and downs the other.

I didnt bother providing back up to these pantamime muppets... just facepalmed slowly and left for a cuppa tea.

You should play black ops if you hate quick schoooping so much, since 99% of the retards still play MW2 (Because snipers are even worse in blops than they are in MW2/CoD4)... faze clan wannabes and noobtubing assholes.

I think i've seen less than 50 of these "Quickscopers" you keep describing, in black ops. For someone that craves realism I don't get why you keep playing the most over the top CoD to date ;)

Oh belive me I tried playing blops but just a lot of little things put me off, the era of weapons, the sounds - or lack there of, the graphics and the skill streaks didnt appeal. MW2 has an ass tone of faults but at least in some games they are maginalised. In blops every game has terrible sounds, nasty (in comparison to mw2) graphics, stone age weapons and unappealing killstreaks.

I can put up with the MLC, quick scopers and tubes given the graphics, sounds and weapons in MW2. - by god sometimes its tough though. Tis like dating a stunning looking girl whos intellectual and intresting .... but then has the most disgusting habbits that crop up half the time. You just have to try and say "well at least she's prettier than her sister!"

I'm living in hope that MW3 keeps the good of mw2 and gets rid of the bad. A love child of MW2 and blops as it were.... I knowin my heart of hearts though that there will be some fatal flaws none of us can predict :(

Realisticly the only hope I should hold out is that the good poits they will have in mw3 will outweight the inevitable "bad habbits".

Silver lining though is that BF3 will be coming out very close to MW3 so when the mess acting gets too much in mw3 I can switch to bf3 for a dose of realisim... if only for a lack of heart pounding COD goodness.

Makes ya think of the duality of COD though, .... would for instance mw2 be as good if we got rid of the messing? I dont know, sometimes half the joy is blasting that dammed MLC with an aa12 as he frantics twords you. Would sure as **** like to give it a go for a week though! :D

or he, like me, thinks MW2 plays better, its way more satisfying to shoot people in Mw2 than Blops (imo) and the feel of the game is better for me.

I prefer hardscoping people as well, love seeing someone scurry across Wasteland and just moving the scope along with them before dropping him with a headshot, beats running around letting auto aim and SOH do the work for you

If only it was that easy :D

A good sniper is someone that knows when to "Hardscope" and when to "Quickscope" ! Time and place for both.

A better sniper knows when to hardscope, and when to switch weapon.

a better one knows that if you see a teammate die or kill a nearby enemy, switch to your secondary pistol/shotgun then switch to whatever assault rifle they've dropped, its fun seeing someone who thinks they have an advantage as you have to scope them or use a pistol, only for you duck, change weapon and pop back up wielding an AK47 :pac:

Well no, it depends. Choosing a pistol in MW2 has the advantage over a better weapon such as a shotty or SMG in that it has a much faster switch time. If I were going up against a sniper I would be more afraid of dual USPs than an AK47 if I had the drop on them.

Exactly. The fast draw advantage was something that is a fantastic advantage to pistols and did allow them to hold out against the other secondary weapons in MW2. This was sorely missed by me in Black Ops and I hope it does make a return in the next game if they intend to bring back full auto pistols and shotguns as they did beforehand.

Like i said... a time and a place. You don't always have the luxury of the time it takes to switch weapons, and quite often that pistol just wont be as effective as zooming in quickly and shooting (Quickscoping) be it because the enemy is at a medium range or because hes got a UMP or 74u and will pretty much shank your ass while your switch to a ****ty pistol.

Besides, the whole handscoping vs quickscoping thing is stupid... what is a quickscope ? How long must i wait before a quickscope becomes a hardscope ? Does this apply for all guns ? If i aim really quickly with a normal gun does that make me a noob aswel ?

Exactly how it should be, quickscoping shouldn't a necessity, it should be a last resort if someone is shooting at you from medium range
