Vegan Stores in Dublin?

Sorry, there are no solely vegan stores in Dublin. There are however plenty of health food stores containing many vegan food products. Is there anything in particular you are looking for? Nourish on Wicklow Street in the city centre, for instance, stock a wide range of frozen vegan food (including Fry's), but you need to check packaging of other products as many are not vegan. There are lots of health food stores, but they all have a different focus on the kind of stock they sell.

I don't know Clondalkin/Tallaght too well. There is a small the Health Store in the Square Shopping Centre in Tallaght, but I don't think it had a fridge/freezer. Only products on shelves.

    Thanks for the response!

I'm looking for non-dairy products and the local stores have a very small selection. I'm only recently vegan and it's quite a change in diet so I want to be sure I stock up on a good range of vegan food in order to maintain my various vitamin intake!

I'll be sure to check out Nourish. The city centre isn't too far so that would be handy enough.

Do you know if they have a decent selection? I'm looking for tempeh, almond milk, etc. These things seem a little difficult to find, I even had trouble getting tofu at my local store the other day!

Thanks again for the reply, appreciate the help.

It does, quite a decent range really.

You will definately find almond milk in Down To Earth on Georges St in the city centre (very close to Nourish). Everything is a bit more expensive though, because of the size of the place and rents. Though I guess a lot of health food stores have it these days.

I'm not too big into temph or tofu, so I can't remember what kind of selection these stores have on those items. But they are bound to have something! I'm sure some other boardsies will also have some advice for you too :)

The Asia Market on Drury Street has loads of tofu, tis way cheaper and nicer than the health shops stuff. They also have loads of sauces, pastes, naans, oils, rice, etc.

I haven't been in there in over a year so it may have changed in the meantime!

I would also recommend investing in a couple of vegan cookbooks and you will find that many delicious recipes can be made from ingredients freely available in any Tesco or Aldi etc. I have several cookbooks but I would probably recommend 'Veganomicon' by Isa Chandra Moskowitz and Terry Hope Romero first as it has a bit of everything.

Regarding non dairy milks- almond is crazy expensive in the shops. It is quite easy to make and much nicer. Let me know if you would like a recipe- you need a blender and some cheesecloth. Kara coconut milk is quite popular also and usually around 1.89 per litre.

Someone gave me a 20 Euro voucher for Eason's over the Christmas, so it shall go to good use on a cookbook. I'll look out for the one you mentioned. As for the recipe for the almond milk, yes please, if you don't mind!

What would you generally use instead, if anything?

I don't really use anything in particular. I've just never gotten into cooking anything savoury with tofu :)

There is 2 health food shops in clondalkin that stock vegan products, Health Nutz in the mill shopping centre and The Health Store in Liffey Valley and they stock the products you are looking for, And usually if they don't have something they will order it in for you!
There is 2 in The Square Tallaght Holland&Barrett (Don't think they have a fridge) and The Health Store (This one is quite small so don't know if they have a lot of stock.

Not in Tallaght but on the bus route! If you get on a 65 and go to Rathmines, the health shop in the Swan Centre is amazing for vegans.

I even had trouble getting tofu at my local store the other day!

Just to let you know, most Tescos sell Tofu, and it's pretty cheap! It's obviously not as NOM as some of the specialist ones in health food shops, but it certainly does the job!

Not sure exactly on where to get stuff, as my Mum tends to send loads of stuff up to me which she buys in a health food shop in Wexford. I do wander into Nourish a good bit though! Their Vegan Mozzarella is actually delicious, defo recommend that!

TVP soya protein is a great substitute and is rich in protein!
Tastes much nicer than tofu and comes in mince and chunky style, In most health shops!

Do you know what brand of cheese it was? I bought a vegan cheese in Nourish and it wasn't the best!
