Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi guys, any little things I might need to know before I start to clean my bike up again after the recent inactivity?

Its a bandit 600 and it has been out in the snow (unfortunately) for the past 2 months.

Im going to change the fuel, clean the carburetor, change the oil and have a quick look at the battery and spark plugs too.
    Any other suggestions?

Stick the battery on charge over night and don't have a quick look at it. Check tyres for signs of splitting damage/flat spots and pressure.

No, I am in Galway so we never got any real snow. A light dusting at most

I meant with a bike cover:D:D:D Im in KK and my bike was outside in heavy snow and frost, but covered, for about 6 weeks before i could use it. Started on the button 1st time. Just carry out all the usual checks that you should do before getting on your bike.If you had a lot of frost as we did over here,i would also check all pipework for splitting and check all your levels

    Oh, I see :D.

    It was covered.
I think I need to do a bit more than usual though. Its a slow starter at the best of times but the main problem now is that I never disengaged the fuel, so the sh1t that is in it has been de-stabilizing (no idea what the difference is to be honest) over the cold snap.

    Result: non starter :(....for now

just ride the bloody thing and stop wussing about snow:)

battery is gonna take the most beating, there are float drains on the carbs if you really need to drain. Otherwise get some leads and jump start off a car!
full choke, no throttle. If nothing, wait a few mins a go again.

Unless mice chewed ht leads it will start

To be on the safe side don't have the car engine going if you're taking a jump-start off it, you don't want it frying anything on your bike.

Nah ticking over at idle is fine, just don't start the car with it connected to the bike.
