Solvent for Loctite Removal?

Lads,
Stripping down the firearms for their yearly rearsenalling. Okay, I am bored, just got some new firearms, and need to reshuffle scopes.

What solvent do you use to get off the old loctite? Don't want to use strippers or anything too powerful.

is it loctite 243? if so just pressure. that will break the bond. just remember to just use a drop when resealing it. too much and the seal is harder to break. smaller the thread= less 243;)

acetone might work, or put the screws in hot water. it'll soften the loctite

Acetone or heat/flame. Not at the same time as acetone is flammable.

as said above Acetone is used for removing superglue, nail polish remover will do the trick also

Acetone is good, this stuff is better, although it can disolve plastic if it is soaked in it :eek:

I use Acetone & NMP in work all the time to remove solvent, NMP for the really stubborn stuff.

Acetone is Nail varnish remover to the lay person.

MNP is an ingredient of some paint thinners.

Alweay wear PPE when handling Solvens guys.
Shooters are nogood blind ;-)

Acetone is the nicest to use as the smell is pleasant, NMP is rank:eek:

Heat the screws when they are out.No need to go red or anything.It will disintergate the loctite.
