    Hi guys,

Thought about posting this in the Ladies Lounge but figured the collective experience of FH&H might be more specialised!

The thing is, my OH is a beard-growing machine! He is clean-shaven for work, but he'd be the type to have a decent five-o'clock shadow a few hours after shaving. (So far so good :pac:)

The problem is my face is shredded by any contact with said stubble (even if he's newly shaven)! We don't get to see each other much for distance reasons, but when we do, everyone can see the signs for the best part of a week after! :o (I'm talking about peeling skin etc., not just redness!)

Have any of your OHs had similar and found a way around it? I think when he has a few days of solid growth (like on holiday), it's softer and less damaging, but that's not really viable in the long run. I've tried moisturising more but it doesn't seem to help much, and of course, an avoidance strategy would be the last thing I'd want!!

    Any magic tips?!

    Any magic tips?!

Sure, although honestly I find it odd you asked this at the end of your story!

When you‘re introducing a new trick, here’s a checklist to determine if it’s ready for live audiences. This list can save you some grief and prevent potentially embarrassing moments.

    1. Can you perform all of the necessary steps in the routine without thinking about them and without hesitating?

    2. Have you thoroughly checked your moves in a mirror?

    3. Have you considered the placement of your audience? For example, if you’ll be standing and your audience sitting, have you evaluated your movements from the perspective of a sitting audience. Here, video-tape can be invaluable.

    4. Have you considered your environment? Your trick may look great in the mirror, but what about people who creep to your sides during a performance?

    5. Is your misdirection strong during any potentially troublesome moments?

    6. If you’re not using music, have you thoroughly practiced your trick with your patter? Can you flawlessly talk and perform the trick at the same time? Are there slow spots where you’re at a loss for words? If so, you’ll need to fix these areas.

    7. Have you had a magician or trusted friend watch your routine and offer feedback on any problem areas?

Best of luck with your magic.

Well, clearly the story was just a classic misdirection technique...! Seems I've a way to go yet! :P

But seriously on the beard burn...I'm getting borderline disfigured at this stage!!

you say that this problem arrises when you see him on the few occasions due to distance. You dont have this issue when hes not around, what can he do?

    Nothing.

Rub your face with sandpaper every morning. Get a good red glow, people will see this glow on you all the time and when you spend time with him and you dont need to sand your face people will think nothing different. They'l be none the wiser.

    I hope that helps

He could just grow a beard and have done with it. It wouldn't scratch as much.
