Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

www.castrol.co.uk and click on oil for your car and it will give you the exact type and quantity required to fill it.

The parts are probably €50-€80 for most cars, considering the dealer or mechanic you go to will get trade discounts for the parts and you likely won't it's not worth your while. Expect to pay somewhere between €350 and €600 for the job including parts depending on where you bring it to.

The ford zetec engines require a 5w30 oil.

We'd normally be charging around €400 for a timing belt kit and water pump supplied and fitted.

There are specific tools required to time ford engines so make sure whoever you get to do it has them.

Agreed about the tools! You get the odd moran ringing up asking how to time them. I had a lad recently and he was trying to time the crank using an allen key. Way off the mark:D

The engine in that is the zh12

Here is the Blueprint Part numbers:
    - Timing Belt: ADM57530
    - Water Pump: ADM59171C
Not a blue print part but : http://www.micksgarage.ie/autoparts.aspx?dept=248&ga=&b=57&AssemblyID=100091&MakeID=36&ModelID=1467&CarID=5193

If you ask in any motorfactors for a tradeprice on the above your looking at €60 for parts.

    5W30 oil for the Fiesta

The cam locking tools arent essential for changing the belt, my brother did my fathers one without it, Saying that my brother is a meticulous Mechanic, I wouldnt trust anyone else to do it without them!

The belt pulley on the crankshaft has no key way on it so when you take off that crankshaft pulley bolt. I guarantee you if you were to time them up after it they would be out a bit.

    Thats your opinion.

Theres at least another 50k miles on the focus since he did it and its perfect. Still i stand by everyones comments here, its not recommended.

Timing a ford engine without tools to lock the crank and cams and getting right is luck..nothing else.

Unless you find a plate and a locking pin which is the exact size and threads into the exact position then the crank can move by even a tiny amount.

The ford engines are a very common engine so any mechanic worth his salt would have the correct tools.
