Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Skoda Superb Combi eligible for scrappage?

The 1.6 TDI (105BHP) Greeline version of the Superb Combi fits into tax band A - making it eligible for scrappage, I think

    The regular pricelist is:

    Comfort 27,045
    Ambition 28,750
    Elegance 31,100

Given that govt scrappage is 1,250 what do folks think a good final price is?

I am ordering a combi elegance this week ... Aim to get between €2-3k off the asking price for cash depending on your spec ;)

It's not a performance car , but it does have about 250 torques (clarkson speak) ...considering a 318i touring has 190 torques ...BHP isn't everything.

Mind you I'm ordering the 2.0l TDI 170 bhp.

Well people were questioning the ability of the 1.5 Laguna which has a few more bhp to move last week. The Superb is about 160kg heavier. Thats the same as carrying 2 adult passengers all the time.

I think they are the finest estate car on the road.

I actually test drove a good few estates in the wind up and the Superb came up trumps on all levels.

I did have a hankering for the V70, but it was just a bit too pricey when spec'ed up to what I wanted.

On the elegance model there is very few options left to tick on the order form.

True. My missus hates estates for some reason but I kinda like them. You get some spec for 31K. It leaves the new Passat Highline look fairly poor. That dont even have cruise as standard now..

I did consider the passat .. but just couldn't justify sacrificing things like satnav, park assist, cruise etc for a badge.

It will be a big change from a GTI to a daysul estate for myself but growing up is all about adaptions:o

Skoda is €37,195 in Elegence spec with the 170 CR TDI DSG.
Passat is € 39,640 in Highline spec with the 170 CR TDI DSG. You can have a the 4x4 in the Skoda. Suppose that is on the way with the Passat.

I do really like the look of the new Passat estate but the Superb is just on another level in spec.

Interesting for some is that the new chassis (PQ46) which the Passat and Superb are based are actually meant to be longer wheel base versions of the Golf/Octavia (PQ35) and has little to do with the Audi A4 unlike the old days where I think they all shared the B platform.
    EDIT:
I did a huge edit there to make it a bit clearer.

From what i make out both Skoda and VW have three trim levels.
Skoda has COMFORT, AMBITION and ELEGANCE which I just called Trend, Comfort and Highline like VW for clarity.

Have one ordered myself. I have a Highline estate at the moment. VW are a joke thinking people are still going to pay crazy money for underspecced cars. My Passat gave a load of trouble aswell.

Its very easy to get about 220 bhp from the Tdi 170 Superb. Not at all boring;)

I know what you are saying but look at the price and the spec. The depreciation is as good as VW now.

I'd say a 1.6Tdi Superb will have to be pushed like crazy to get it to go anywhere.

I've driven a Passat 1.6Tdi (B6) quite extensivley (sp?). It's good for a steady 100km/h on the Motorway, but struggles above that and needs a bit of work to get half decent performance around town. I've heard (from someone who knows what he's talking about, not the man down the pub) that the 1.6Tdi really struggles in the Passat estate, so I'd say it's even worse in the Superb.

1.9Tdi would be a better bet if you can still order them as the torque is available lower in the rev range.

Here's a owner review of the 1.6 estate from briskoda.net.

Obviously the guy is just after buying the car so he's not going to say that it does not meet his needs.

I'm a fairly conservative driver so I'm wondering if 105 BHP is adequate....I need to take her for a test drive fully loaded....
