e60 5series water pump

    as far as im aware there is an electric water pump on my 5er? the car now has 155,000 miles and this has never been changed. when are they supposed to be changed? is it a big job? how much are they? hope someone knows.

    It's not run off the timing belt/chain, so if it does fail all your going go get is a little leak.

    I changed the water pump on my e46 as it was cheap to do so. I'd say it would be quite expensive on the e60. If it's not broke I'd leave it alone...

    what your saying about if it's not broke leave it alone isn't true with water pumps, if it where to stop(since its an electrical motor) there is no water temp gauge in e60's so you would be to late by the time you see steam rising from the bonnet. this is why i want to know when i should get it changed etc.

    you'd have more than a little leak if the head warps.
