Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

OK i bought a new car the other day and transferred the insurance to my new car but i still have the old car. A friend of mine wants to buy it off me but he is in limerick and i am in dublin. He doesnt have a full license so i would have to drop it down to him. Am i covered under my policy does anyone know?

I was thinking now that i named my new car as my insured car that the other car would be only insured 3rd party. Is that correct.

If you had a full license, and he had insurance, then yes. If he doesn't have insurance, then no, you'll be driving uninsured.

You are no longer covered on the old car.

Probably not. If you have comprehensive, you would only be insured 3rd party to drive another car if it was owned by a 3rd party with a separate policy.

You could do a temp transfer back to your old car to drop it down to him. Check with your insurance company.

Nope. You are only insured on one car. You are insured to drive another car that its insured but never to drive 2 cars under the one policy...

Its why an insurence company has to be called from the garage when taking a hire car out while yours is being fixed.

You cannot drive another car under your Driving of Other Cars extendion if it is owned by you or registered in your name. You must do a temp sub on to your old car but remember, you won't even have fire & theft on your new car while the old one is on your policy
