Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm under the impression that one needs and NCT to tax a vehicle.

You'd need garage plates to drive it around for testing and mechanical repairs.

If the car is over 20 years, you could quality for a classic ~ no NCT required and a fixed low tax and a limit of 10,000 mile per annum.

It may be your impression........but your impression is incorrect: you don't need NCT to tax your car - it was done away with, years ago.

If you're not a garage, you can't have garage plates.....

It's 30 years for classic tax, not 20, .........and if car first registered after Jan 1 1980, it needs an NCT EVERY year, from this year. Mileage per annum has nothing to do with tax.

    Big changes then!

Heard on the local radio over the Christmas about the 20 year old car and limited mileage. Guess they were out of date too then.

    Thanks.

As said no need for NCT for tax.

Going for an NCT test or coming back from one, you are exempt from having a valid NCT.........(even if you fail you can drive a non roadworthy car home.....show how much of a shambles the NCT is)

No it doesn't. Every car with the exception of SPSV vehicles are only required a test every two years.
