    Sorry guys!

    last question comparing cars!

just wondering which of the above would be the best buy in your opinion

    2006 vw golf 1.9 tdi se 65000 miles €8500 to €9000

    or

    2006 skoda octavia 1.9 tdi se 90000 miles €7500

assuming all other things equal i.e timing belts, service history etc

is the skoda octavia a bigger car i.e more head room at the front do you know?

    many thanks

You will have to test drive these cars to get a definitive answer.
You already know they are based on the same platform so the interior is pretty much the same (headroom).
You already know from other threads that they are essentially the same cars.
You already know the Skodas are generally better for the money.
You already know you can get more spec out of the Skoda.
At the end of the day you will have to decide which is better.

What you may not know is the that the Skoda Octavia is = to the VW Jetta in terms of the year you are talking about.

    In Ireland:

Pre Jetta's the Skoda Octavia = VW Bora.
Golf = Hatchback = No Skoda
Bora = Saloon type = Octavia
Jetta = Replacement of Bora = Octavia
    Golf Estate = Octavia Estate
    VW Jetta replaced VW Bora.

Kinda, sorta. An 'ish' would have been more appropriate on my part. It is more like the Bora/Jetta then the Golf in terms of space which is what he was asking about and even that is only in the boot.

OP why don't you keep all your threads together? It seems every day you have a new one with two new golfs/octavias to compare. It just gets confusing.

yes, I appreciate that but I had apologised at the start of my post for that and said it was my last question comparing cars.

thank you bbk and colm_mcm for your help
