This is not the place to complain about bans or infractions. Please use DRP, Feedback, Help Desk or if you make it, Prison.

I think it's funny when users get sitebanned for a while, say they're neva eva coming back, throw their toys out of the pram and then when their ban is over they come crawling back. :)

What is even more fun is trying to guess what the old banned username used to be for posters with < 10 posts who start threads giving out about boards/moderator opression etc.

I would definatly say that certain mods are very biased and use their "mod powers" to force over their viewpoint, or indeed partake in a thread in a baiting way which would not be accepted from a normal user.

Is the poll on this thread kosher? If so, and given the large number of responses, then the answer is clear to the question raised by the OP
Difference between mods abusing their position and some people thinking they do. Things aren't always as they seem. Not out to disagree with you btw, you're being reasonable.

You were personally abusive and you used the tactic that winds up Animals & Pet Issues forum users the most... and you complain about mods abusing their position...?

I sence a circling of the wagons taking place, I suppose if you can't cope with constructive criticism then make a joke of the thread and ignore the issue. I have to say the treatment of the thread and posters by some moderators is embarrasing and a discredit to boards.ie.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,191 ✭✭✭✭Latchy

Some mods make mistakes and like anybody have to learn by trial and error ,they are only human .We are told there is no free speech on boards.ie which has as much to do with by example , preventing personal and racist abuse etc being posted , and rightly so . There will always be disputes with mods both in threads and in private but as long as the they keep the important stuff to the front and not get caught up what can sometimes seenas personal spats with posters in threads ( real or imagined ) then it makes for a much happy medium all round

Remember this is after hours, the only mods that count here are the after hours mods, all other mods are considered normal posters here and get treated as such.

Who else hates the dispute resolution forum? It seems to exist simply to enable the powers that be to gang up.

Think it's more that they disagree with you rather than being unable to cope with constructive criticism.

They may not have moderation powers but it shows a bad attitude which you can only assume is brought back to their forums.

TBF this is AH. The place to have fun and a laugh. I expect the mods in here to have a giggle with polls and mess bannings once in a while. If i didnt i wouldnt post in here.

For those of you have an issue with other mods outside AH why not take it up with them/Feedback and quit bitching about them in here!

Ive tried that, the wagons just circle. Take a look at feedback, two recent threads about politics moderation there, locked and instructed to go to dispute resolution where there will only be one dissenting voice.

Well i dont mean to pick one mod and start a thread on them. That is for the resolution area but people are singling out mods in hereand its bang out of order. Bitching about people who might not even use AH is a load of poo.

I wouldnt name names either and in fairness i havent had a problem with any mod but i think mods with personal agendas are only shooting themselves in the foot by scaring people away from their own forums.

Fair game in the relevant forum or over pm. Not in here. I'm totally against bitching and linking to other forums in here. That's just my opinion tho. AH is for fun (or some serious news topics) not for bitching about mods of other forums.

Because I dont think its right to air your problems with a certain mod of a different forum in After Hours. I've seen a few being singled out in this thread and its not right. I'd feel the same if people were doing it with just normal users who didnt use AH. Like i said, this is just my opinion.

You mean like the recent thread where ISAW got an apology from both a C-Mod and a Politics Mod for a wrong decision made on there part?
    MUSSOLINI wrote: »

Cause AH isn't the place for it, Feedback is there for a very specific reason.

I honestly don't get what's so hard to grasp about the concept of using a Feedback forum to provide Feedback, rather than posting in other forums about your problem with a specific Mod.

The Feedback forum is for Feedback. It's quite simple.

This is a thread about mod abuse, are we only allowed to talk about this in general "yeah it happens" supposed instances on this forum, or something else entirely?

I looked for that feedback thread that was going to b started, didnt see it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,430 ✭✭✭Dotsie~tmp

This forum used to be a decent place to come back when it was populated by gamers. Its gon to sh*t with mainstream catering and tinstar generals for mods. I knew it was f*cked when it started censoring "bad" language. Mostly populated by serial offence-taking arseholes now.

No big deal. The internet darwinistic. People will eventually tire of the control and something else will turn up.

We ain't Feedback, nor or we the DRP forum. You have a grievance with a forum, here isn't the place to air it and we don't want to hear it.

Fair enough Mickey, I just came on to offer my 2 cents on the subject of the thread and vaguely cited a case.

An irony is that this thread is still open and has over 330 posts, yet there's still no doubt going to be someone bleating about "censorship" and "intimidation"...
