Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi.....

Anyone out there with experience in getting their daughter/son on their policy.

I have a 1.3 Ka (wife car) and this would be ideal to start to learn to frive. Currently paying with Ford InSure (part of AVIVA) €280 comprehensive for wife and me as named driver (don't really know why I bother with comprehensiveas it is a 99 model!!) but quoted €900 to add daughter (18yr) to policy. And this is still as an accompanied driver.

Policy up in Feb...so am willing to move if price is right. Any good tips out there??

just to elaborate, shes with quinn, in her own name (not a named driver) and is 17. 1200 is on installments, there was a lump sum discount

Last January i bought a '97 Honda civic and put my son on the policy. ( New policy seperate from my current one )
Therefore I had zero ncb coming into the policy.

My son was then 18 >>> "RED ALERT" to insurers.
    Learner permit >> Double wammy

    So,
TPFT with windscreen cover for myself and him was €1559

I went back and change Male to Female>>> Brought the price down to something like €830

    This year on renewal

    Son 19
    Full Licence
    Same car
    One year NCB >> €1004

    Nice drop in price

I am sure it would be a lot less in a KA with a Daughter

    Go online http://www.quinn-direct.com/ireland/

Fill in your details and get an online quote
    should give you an idea.

At the time I considered it to reduce the policy cost..it would probably have been the cheaper option at the time :D

I'm 18, male, and paying €999 (fully comp, named driver, full licence) on my mother's 1.3L 5-door Toyota Starlet. Dropped from ~€1,200 when I had the Learner Permit. That's with Aviva.

Odd number for a premium - hopefully there's no hidden message behind it :P
