Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Which OS?

In Linux you can do this with PulseAudio's Simultaneous Output.

Windows 7 doesn't support multiple simultaneous output but you can use Virtual Audio Cable to work around the limitation.

eh? news to me, its easily done in windows 7 if you have onboard sound and a seperate dedicated card. You just set the player to use e.g. onboard while everything else defaults to the dedicated soundcard, e.g. in Windows Media Player go to Options/Devices, select Speakers and properties and select onboard sound( presuming dedicated is the default ) and bobs your uncle.

Ignoring idiots who comment "far right" because they don't even know what it means

So why do Microsofties claim it is not possible in Windows 7 "by design"? One here notes that some *hardware* supports it (despite their design intentions) - is that what's happening?

As per the design you would not able to hear sound from both speakers and HDMI for a single application at one time.

Multiple audio output is not supported by windows 7. It is by design.

Unfortunately, multiple audio output is not a supported feature in Windows 7.

(Output to 2 sound cards Simultaneously)
Unfortunately this cannot be accomplished, as it is by-design

Some hardware supports it; however you may need to contact the computer manufacturer for checking the possibilities.

It doesn't matter what people claim, if you try it yourself, you would see that it works just fine.

You can't just google an answer and back it up with your search results.

My W7 supports this nativly, and the OP has said his issue is resolved.

Yup. It works fine. I can have video Playing on my HDTV with audio coming from the 5870 and I can play games on my monitor at the same time with audio coming from the xfi sound card. Works just fine.

Afraid ur wrong on this one snowbat!

When microsoft have no interest in supporting something you invariably get their generic 'Not a supported feature' reply.

I know per-application audio routing is available but can you play a video on your HDTV and have its audio coming from the 5870 and xfi at the same time? That's what I mean by "multiple simultaneous output".

maybe you could get some cheapo USB sound cards and use cables to route stuff in addition to playing with the sound mixers on each

no idea if it works, but might be fun to play around, you can get splitters for the cables too
