L.A. Guns got their start on Los Angeles’ Sunset Strip. The band was formed in 1986 and signed with Polygram Records in 1987, recording their first album that summer. This first album, titled “L.A. Guns”, went on to sell 750,000 copies and earned the band its first gold album award. Tours with AC/DC, Iron Maiden and Def Leppard followed. A compilation of the videos made from this first album also earned the band a gold video award. L.A. Guns went into the studio to record their second album, “Cocked and Loaded”, in the spring of 1989. It was a hit right away with the release of “Rip and Tear” as the first single and video. “Never Enough” and “The Ballad of Jayne” followed, pushing album sales over 1,000,000 and earning the band its first platinum record award. The video compilation from this album earned the band its second gold video award. A successful world tour followed. The band’s third album, “Hollywood Vampires”, was recorded in the fall of 1990. With the release of “Kiss My Love Goodbye” as the first single and video, and another successful world tour, the album went on to sell 700,000 copies and earned the band its third gold album award.

The band went back into the studio in 1994 to start work on their next album “Vicious Circle”. It was released in early 1995 and was followed by another successful world tour. Between 1996 and 1999, the band’s members branched out recording and working on outside projects. In late 1999, L.A. Guns went into the studio to record a greatest hits package titled “Black Beauties” that also included five new songs written for the album. The band toured with Poison, Ratt, and others throughout the summer of 2000. In 2001, the band released its sixth studio album, “Man in the Moon”. The band also changed Bass Guitarists with Adam Hamilton joining the band. A successful world tour followed. The reviews of the album were great and the band was determined to follow this up with an even stronger set of songs for the next release.

L.A. Guns entered the studio for their seventh album in early 2002 with veteran producer Andy Johns, who had worked with the likes of Led Zeppelin and Van Halen , to record “Waking the Dead”. The album was released in late 2002 and garnered L.A. Guns some of the best reviews the band had ever received. It was also when Tracii Guns decided to quit the band to do “Brides Of Destruction” with Nikki Sixx. That same year, L.A. Guns acquired Stacey Blades to handle the guitar slot. Blades had been around the L.A. music scene for many years recording and playing Lead Guitar in both Roxx Gang, Supercool & S.M.A.C.K. He fit the bill perfectly coming from the same school of rock that L.A. Guns are from. When the US tour to support “Waking the Dead” ended, Tracii announced that he was ”officially” leaving L.A. Guns. The band continued to tour despite his untimely departure.

After a 2003 world tour to support “Waking the Dead”, L.A. Guns went into the studio in January of 2004 to record “Rips the Covers Off” with producer Andy Johns. This was a collection of 70′s rock songs. Once again, the band went on a full world tour to support the new CD. In May of 2005, L.A. Guns began work on “Tales from the Strip” with Andy Johns again producing. The “Tales” CD was released August 2005. Reviews were great with many saying it was some of the best music out today. L.A. Guns hooked up with WASP for a early summer thru September tour. In early 2006, L.A. Guns did some local L.A . shows and recorded them for a new live CD. This new live CD, “Loud and Dangerous”, was released late August 2006 with the band again supporting it with a world tour.

In Early 2007 long time Bassist Adam Hamilton decided to do songwriting and producing full time. The guys acquired Hollywood Veteran Scott Griffin, but in Mid 2009 Griffin left the band to do a residency in Las Vegas. Kenny Kweens from Beautiful Creatures quickly came aboard as the new Bass Guitarist. 2011 sparked the triumphit return of Scotty Griffin on Bass. The “Bookends” (Stacey and Scotty) and the boys are geared to tear it up across the world giving audiences the high octane Rock-n-Roll that is L.A. Guns.

"D.R.I. are coming back to Dublin for a one-off show on their 30th Anniversary Tour.

D.R.I. were one of the first bands to fuse hardcore punk with thrash metal, along with Suicidal Tendencies and Corrosion of Conformity. Starting off as a speedy, straight-ahead punk band, they gradually mixed more elements of heavy metal into their sound; as they did so, their songs got longer and featured more sections and more variety in tempo. D.R.I. managed the then-rare feat of crossing over to metal audiences while retaining their skatepunk and hardcore fan bases -- they had something for all those audiences to love (or hate). "

    THIS TUESDAY, AUGUST 7TH
    CYPRUS AVENUE **NOTE VENUE CHANGE**
€5 AT THE DOOR, €4 WITH INDIEPENDENCE/LISSARD TICKET

The perfect post-festival cure! And cheap in with your ticket!

"One of today's master singer/songwriters and musicians." - Philadelphia Examiner

"A performer with a real streak of genius." - Maverick Magazine

"Nicolay's skill at playing punk sage on one song and slightly troubled troubadour on the next is really something special." - Pitchfork

"Recasting the windswept folk artist as someone with piratical swagger…like Nick Cave leading an American Pogues," - Q Magazine

Franz Nicolay is that multi-instrumentalist and man-about-town, peddling a modern vaudeville with full-throated songs and stories shamelessly strident, stentorian and more than a little sentimental. He's been a member of cabaret-punk circus World/Inferno Friendship Society, world's best bar band The Hold Steady, gypsy-klezmer carnies Guignol, outlaw orchestra Anti-Social Music, and agit-punks Against Me!; and performed or recorded with everyone from Leftover Crack to Bruce Springsteen. He has been a contributor to magazines from Blender to Impose, is a regular columnist for the literary journal InDigest, and has released several collections of essays. His first story collection, ‘Complicated Gardening Techniques’, was published by Julius Singer Press in 2009.

Nicolay has been hailed as a charismatic "born performer," "a storyteller and entertainer in the cabaret and vaudevillian tradition.

    Out on a Limb presents

    JOGGING
    'TAKE COURAGE' - ALBUM LAUNCH
with special guests GUILTY OPTICS & ELK

    Whelan's, 25 Wexford St, D2.

    Saturday 25th August
    Doors 8pm
Tickets €10/€15 with LP & Digital Download

2 songs from the album can be streamed here:
    http://soundcloud.com/ooal/jogging-deadweight
    http://soundcloud.com/ooal/jogging-stand-still

Released Friday, August 24th on Out On A Limb Records

Take Courage is Jogging’s follow-up to the much-acclaimed Minutes (2010, Richter Collective), taking a leap in fidelity having been recorded in June 2012 with U.S. producer Chris Common (ex-These Arms Are Snakes, with production credits for Minus The Bear, Pelican, Mastodon, and Tiny Vipers under his belt). It will be Jogging’s first release for Out On A Limb Records, coming out on vinyl (with download) and digital on Friday, August 24th.

Jogging awakened in 2009 and quickly gained a formidable live reputation. They have toured Ireland and the UK, sharing the stage with Wire, Polvo, Ponytail, And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead and Themselves amongst others. Jogging's music has been described as "an intense, raw blend of post-hardcore and gutsy indie rock”.

Take Courage sees Jogging dealing with constantly rearranging social structures, the aging process, and the effects of living out an extended teenhood throughout one's twenties, all served up with a hefty dollop of malice and spite (albeit mostly directed towards same selves). The composition and collaboration is a marked progression on Minutes, where no part overstays its welcome and every transition is seamless yet startling. Sonically, it is worlds apart from the first record, as drums thunder their way through each turn, the well-rounded yet distorted bass rumbles and drives the melodies and the guitars cut though like ice-picks. The band's trademark call-and-response vocals are barked with authority and conviction down to their last breath, and every word has
resonance. A rare thing for an Irish record in 2012.

The album will be officially launched at Whelan’s, Dublin, on Saturday, August 25th, with special guests Elk and Guilty Optics. The launch will be followed by dates around Ireland in September.

    LIVE DATES
    • Sat, Aug 25th: Whelan’s, Dublin w/guests Elk & Guilty Optics.

For the first time ever, hard rock legends Warrior Soul hit Cork City!

Warrior Soul is an American hard rock band formed in 1987 by lead singer and producer Kory Clarke. Clarke started the band on a bet from a promoter at New York City’s Pyramid Club, after a solo performance art show called ‘Kory Clarke/Warrior Soul’. Clarke boasted he would have the best rock band in the city within six months. Nine months later he signed to Geffen Records for a million dollars.

The term “Acid Punk” was coined by Clarke to explain the hard driving trippy sound that was Warrior Soul, particularly the Space Age Playboys album, mixed by Ben Gross. The style once again predicted what was going to break on the American and International rock music scene with the success of Green Day and The Offspring.

The critical acclaim that accompanied the band translated to record sales in Europe but there was not enough push or touring to break in the USA. Despite recognition by peers, including Lars Ulrich from Metallica who had been quoted as saying Space Age Playboys was his favorite album, Warrior Soul disbanded in 1995.

In 1996, Odds & Ends was released as a posthumous collection of demos and left material that were to be part of a major label record (Elektra, Nancy Jeffries) that got squashed by Peter Mensch at Q-Prime management. Clarke took 2 years off after disbanding “The Playboys” and moved back to New York, and wrote & released on Cargo Records his spoken word solo album Opium Hotel in 2004. Soon after Clarke was tapped to be the lead singer of Dirty Rig and coproduced their album for Escapi Records in 2006.

Following the re-release of the band’s first five albums in 2006, Clarke reformed Warrior Soul for a UK tour in March 2007, using long time musician friends from England and Sweden. A live album resulted from a subsequent UK tour in October of that year.

The band released a limited edition studio album titled Chinese Democracy in October 2008, just a month before the Guns ‘n’ Roses album of the same name was due for release. The band shortly re-named the album Destroy the War Machine and began to print more copies.

In 2008, the band played the second incarnation of Hard Rock Hell, in North Wales, with the large room over capacity when the band played, rendering the opposing Hawkwind show on the next stage virtually unattended. Kerrang! magazine reviewed the show as KKKKK (5 Ks). December 2008, also saw the band return to large indoor stages, with shows at the Shepherds Bush Empire, London, and the Academy, Glasgow.

In 2009, the band saw re-issues of the classic Warrior Soul work on vinyl, and a European tour to support the release of Destroy the War Machine. Warrior Soul toured the UK with The I See.

2012 has so far seen the band play in Slovenia & Wacken Festival. Before they tour both the UK & Europe from September onwards, this Irish tour will be in support of the band’s new album that will be released in September, and will see them take in Belfast, Dublin, and for the first time, Cork City.

Before Mötley Crüe, before RATT, even before there was a Metallica, Y&T was slogging away in sweaty rock clubs around America. When the band formed in the early 1970s, little did they know they would set the standard for hard rock bands that trailed. Many of the biggest acts of the ’80s became popular opening for headliners Y&T—and cut their teeth on the band, as evidenced by the Y&T mentions in tell-all books by acts such as Metallica and Mötley Crüe.
Born in Oakland, California, Y&T is one of the San Francisco Bay Area’s own innovators of the hard rock sound. World-renowned headliners on their own, the band also remained the most requested support act on the hard rock road, touring with icons Ozzy Osbourne, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Mötley Crüe, and more. Whether performing to a festival crowd of fifty-thousand or in an intimate nightclub, Y&T’s high-energy set still captivates legions of fans around the globe, proving Y&T’s music timeless.

Originally formed as Yesterday and Today, the initial powerhouse quartet—featuring Dave Meniketti (lead guitar/lead vocals), Phil Kennemore (bass), Leonard Haze (drums), and Joey Alves (rhythm guitar)— tore through the ’70s and ’80s with their own brand of hard rock. After two ’70s albums on London Records, they shortened their name to Y&T and released eight albums on A&M in the ’80s. Two more albums with Geffen Records marked an era of change with Jimmy DeGrasso (Alice Cooper, Suicidal Tendencies, Megadeth) on drums and Stef Burns (Alice Cooper, Berlin, Huey Lewis) on guitar.

With a discography of 18 albums and three greatest hits collections, Y&T has sold over four million albums since their 1974 inception. The band received extensive airplay with hits such as Forever, Rescue Me, Mean Streak, and Summertime Girls—which played in heavy rotation on MTV. Y&T songs have been featured in a multitude of movies and television shows, including Real Genius, Out of Bounds, Baywatch, and Hunter. After five top 100 albums, songs that tipped into the 40s, two Bammie Awards, and many international television appearances, Y&T’s hits are still played on VH1 Classic and classic rock radio stations everywhere.

In 2010, Y&T released their first studio album in 13 years, featuring original members Dave Meniketti and Phil Kennemore, along with longtime members John Nymann on guitar and Mike Vanderhule on drums, who were each hand-picked by Kennemore and Meniketti years earlier. As the title indicates, Facemelter is a hard rockin’, song-oriented album that lives up to its name. Recorded mostly live in the studio, it captures the band’s raw energy and tightness for which they’ve become known. Featuring heavy grooves, powerful guitars and strong melodies, the band shows their versatility, delivering a range of highenergy rockers, mid-tempo head-bangers, modern rock grooves, majestic ballads, and signature Y&T rock anthems.

After a show in the mid-’70s, a rabid fan told the band, “You melted my face.” And as any Y&T fan will testify still today, Y&T’s strong suit lies in their high-energy, power-packed rock ‘n’ roll set. With Kennemore’s untimely passing from lung cancer, the band carries on the legacy that is Y&T. Y&T continues to tour the world, featuring Dave Meniketti (guitar/lead vocals), John Nymann (guitar/vocals), Brad Lang (bass/vocals), and Mike Vanderhule (drums/vocals), playing songs from Facemelter as well as all the hits and fan favorites. Prepare to have your face melted.
