basically I want to drop out of first arts but want to do it again next year..... so basically repeat first year??

So Im just wondering is this actually possible? And if so how would I go about doing it???.... Also how would it effect fees and money etc...???....

Any advice or help is greatly appreciated :D ...

You'll have to pay for first year, this time the full fees since you'll be repeating. Pretty sure you won't get the grant next year either.

Don't ya not have to pay just a repeat fee of €1500 +whatever the reg fee will be instead of the full 6-8 grand fees?

Under the current free fees scheme if you deregister from your course before the 31st January you will keep an entitlement to half of the tuition fees for next year and you then pay the registration fee, student levy and half the tuition fees for your repeat year. YOU MUST deregister on or before the 31st if you deregister on the 1st Feb you will be liable for the full tuition fees, reg fees and student levy.

What's the point? Why not work hard and pass first year then take a year out or something?
First year arts can't be that intensive...

Exactly. Unless you're planning on not going in to the exams, you should probably pass. Unless your current course choice precludes you from doing something you really want to do...
But aye, as ciano said - if you just fail and repeat it'll cost you 1500... you can almost definitely change your subjects again then anyway.
