Ok, have to attend a funeral tomorrow, and no way i could both attend and sign-on as funeral is about 3 hours drive away. what are my options? if i miss the sign-on date can i sign-on later in the week? I have tried looking through welfare.ie, but no joy.

Any help would be much appreciated.

just go in the next day and explain what you were doing usually they are ok but i suppose it all depends what they are like in your sw office.

Probably better to ring them on the signing day (today?) and tell them, and that you'll be in tomorrow.
