Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi guys, I have an interview next week to obtain a place in strawberry hill in london. As part of this interview I have to give a five minute presentation. This involves bringing an item that I think would be a good resource for children and talking about it for 5 minutes. No PowerPoint is allowed. I'm stuck for ideas and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions?

Bring a childrens book. It would need to be a big book so that the students can see the pictures as you are reading.

Thanks for that but it might be a bit basic. Need something that I can actively involve the viewers with as well......

I know my friend used a book last year. Combine it with worksheets, picture actiities etc. Really good. She got on the course as well.
However there are other props you could use. Have you tried googling it?

Right guys. I've decided on doing the water cycle. I have a game of something similar to snakes and ladders whereby you go up a square for evaporation and down for precipitation etc. Any other ideas on incorporating the audience with this topic? ;)

    Hi guys,

my friend has an interview to do a PGCE in business teaching in University of Manchester. Does anyone have any experience of this? Can anyone provide any advice on what to expect.

They emailed her to say the layout of the interview will be as follows:
The Assessment Centre has a number of parts:

    1. Welcome and introduction to the course.

    2. Basic numeracy and literacy tests. The use of a calculator will be permitted.

    3. Teaching task. You will be required to engage in a small group teaching task conducted with other PGCE interview candidates. The topic, from your specialist subject, will be chosen for you and you will have opportunity to prepare for the task on the day of the interview.

    4. Interview.

    5. A Business Education subject specific written task which will last approximately 30 minutes.

Should she know how to prepare a lesson plan for the teaching task?

    Thanks!
