Insurance for Creche

    Hi,
The nice people at the creche tell me insurance is available for our child at the creche. This is (I think 7.50) per month and apparently everyone has it. A cursory look at what is covered shows things like
    - loss of limb
    - loss of hearing

These things can only happen if something mad happens. Surely, the creche should be covered for these mad things?

    Any advice?

    Thanks.

The cost of insurance for creches and schools has gone up to the point that they want parents to take out policies as well to cover the kids indivually. The only way to know if what the creche policies cover and to how much is to ask to have a look at it.

I think that insurance is not just for children while in the creche - I am involved in a toddler group and we have been offered the same. It is more a general insurance policy AFAIK.

Those policies sound like they might be on offer from a controversial insurance company whose disgruntled policy-holders featured on LiveLine and askaboutmoney.com, etc in the past. They are sold door-to-door by a commission-only sales-force. I would tread very warily, ask to see policy details and research the company thoroughly before committing to anything.

This kind of specific cover "- loss of limb,
    - loss of hearing" always rings alarm-bells for me.

If you can get the details of the company offering the cover and post them I might have more info. It all sounds a bit strange.
