I'm better at languages than I am at maths, but could choose a specialisation maths-orientated eg. (accountancy , economics , banking.) However the international degree would give me the language benefits for multi-lingual jobs... Opinions pls:)

You can specialise in any business section in both BBL and Commerce (I assume its the same in BComm Int). However, if its anything like Law with French Law, you'll be doing some lectures entirely through French, but I may be wrong in saying this. A friend of mine does this and didn't realise that this was the case before entering the course, so research you're course first! You'll certainly have French Language modules though.

Can't really comment on the BCIT French programme, but if it's anything like the German one, your Semester will look roughly like so:
    • 3 Core Business modules
    • 1 Core Language module
    • 1 Literature/Culture module
The business modules are self-explanatory. For the most part, it's the same material as you'd cover in B&L or BComm.

The core language module is simply learning the language - grammar, vocabulary, short essays (250 words at the very most). The classes will be taught through the language studied.

The literature/culture module, you usually get a choice of 2 in each semester. Lectures and classes are usually done through English, but that depends on the nature of the module.

And then you have the two Electives. You can pick both of them in the same semester, or split them between the two semesters (provided that the module is actually available and compatible with your timetable).

With regards to specialisation, it simply depends on which subjects you take in your Final Year. There is a document on BlackBoard which outlines which modules you have to have completed in order to graduate in "Accountancy Mode", which will grant you some exemptions when doing the various Chartered exams.

    Hope this helps.
