    Mods does it still count as advertising if the seminar is free but it's effectively a sales session? Every board I watch has these ads from Dr. Ferdinands cronies (who invariably registered on the day and have one post) plugging his stuff.
    Edit: Just to prove it's not an altruistic seminar, here's their business interest.

    It is common for universities to invite authors to lecture on their area of expertise. Often university bookstores sell the very books from those authors (as happens to be the case at UCC and UCD). This does not distract from the fact that a free seminar at a university from an experienced author may be of value to some members of this forum.

    Nothing is to be sold at the seminar and it is sponsored by student groups.
