Brake Pedal and Brake Lights - 2006 Colt

    Hello,
    I'm driving 2006 Mitsubishi Colt. In the last week I have noticed that there is a delay between me pressing the brake pedal and the brake lights coming on. Before setting out on a trip this week (Cork Dublin) the gap between pressing pedal and lights coming on was 15 seconds. By the end of the journey it was 2 seconds.

    Can anyone advise on what the problem and solution might be.
