Which router model is being currently sent out to new customers?

Or is the EPC2425 the only model that is being sent out right now?

Jor El, if you could please put something like "Current Model Shipped: XXXXXX - This will be updated if the model ever changes" in the first post...
it would be great, and help avoid the question being asked constantly.

I see the post was last edited a full year ago so this is why I'm unsure.

Hi does anybody know if there is a how to guide for setting up UPC's cable modem with VPN?. Is it possible to hook up another wireless router to the Cisco Upc one?.

    any pointer would be great.

I got my pack from UPC yesterday, and got a Thomson 870 modem.
Unfortunately the self-install hasn't gone well, it hasn't gone beyond the DS light blinking.
And the "self-install helpline" is unmanned until Monday

    Thanks for sharing that info.

Sorry you're having problems with it.

Having used a thomson router I got with smart before,
I wouldn't be to keen on that 870 cable modem either.

UPC engineer set up the EPC2425 on Saturday and I had connection, though the wireless was not working too well so I decided to try and bridge it onto an old Netgear WGR614v6 I've had around for a while.

During setup I decided to unbridge the EPC2425 again to be able to check relevant connection settings to be used on the Netgear setup page, but after that I've been unable to connect to the EPC2425 again (using a network cable).

Any idea what I could do myself to re-establish the connection? UPC Helpdesk told me their monitoring tells them that the signal is out from the modem - the first four lights are sometimes on, most of the time flashing. It just doesn't make any sense to me how I cannot even connect to the routers interface on 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.100.1

They'll send a technician out but because the appointments are during working hours, it's very unpractical for me and the helpdesk doesn't know how to help either...

You must set static ip address under your ethernet adapter settings as cisco in bridge mode is not able to assign one from dhcip pool...

Thanks, good call. I didn't even think I'd need an IP just to connect to the router settings page but there you go

Hey was wondering if anybody could help here.
Have the EPC2425 model modem/router (connected at our desktop - which is still working fine) and it's worked fine until yesterday. Nobody went near it but all of a sudden any laptop or smartphone in the house cannot connect to it. Smartphones constantly display a 'Connecting...Obtaining IP address....Disconnecting' cycle and laptops just wont connect to the signal.
I've spent hours here trying to sort it out but still have nothing to show for it so if anybody could help I'd really appreciate it.

you could simply try changing the channel, sounds like wireless interference to me. log into your modem, http://192.168.1.1 hit "setup" then under ''Wireless'' settings click "basic" try channel 1, 2 6 or 11 - which ever works best.

Tried them all, no luck. Anything else?

    Hi Guys,

I have been skimming through the previous pages but can’t seem to find a solution.

I have a UPC wireless router / modem (the Cisco one) with 6 devices connected it throughout the house.
My problem is that on my 2 laptops the internet connection falls off after about 10 -15 minutes.
However, on the other devices (Apple TV, 2 x Android phones, 1x Android tablet) there is no problem and everything works fine.
The laptops are MAC and PC running OS-Lion and Windows 7 respectively.

I have tried rebooting the laptops and the router with no success.
I have also tried resetting the router and changing the channel but still it drops the laptops after 10-15 minutes.

This issue has only arisen this week.
Also, we had a power cut a few days ago after which the power came on and off several times (It may have fried something)

At this stage I just want to scream at it!!!!

Does anybody have any thoughts on this (save getting a new router / modem)?

Any help will be much appreciated
    :)

Streaming media to Xbox/PS3/media player can be problematic. See this post, but basically any streaming that relies on multicast will not work, if you're streaming between the wired and wireless LAN interfaces. There is nothing you can do about this, as it's a hardware/firmware issue, and no one can fix that for you, so don't waste your time asking. Replacing the router is the only solution.

I posted about this a month ago or so, looking for a workaround as I couldn't stream media from my wi-fi connected PC to my ethernet connected TV(no wi-fi). Today, I right clicked a photo on Windows 7, and noticed a "Play To" option, giving me the option to stream to my TV. Clicked on the TV and up came the photo on the TV in the other room.

Tried it the other way around too, I can now search through my computers content from the smart tv. I might be missing some intricacies in why the rule above doesn't apply to me - but it works for me. I'll put up a decent explanation later with model numbers and settigns and even a video of it working if you want. On the way out now.

    Kevin.

    Hi,

wondering if anyone here would be able to shed some light on a problem I'm having with my Cisco EPC2425.

I live in a 3 story house and the Cisco wifi modem is located on ground floor. Wireless coverage in the top floor is poor. What I was trying to do is use a different WIFI router to see if the range improves, I got a NetGear N300 Dual Band. dont know if it will improve the signal but worth a try.

I cannot get the Bridging mode in my Cisco to work properly so the NetGear cannot connect.

I've turned Bridging on (http://192.168.1.1/GatewayMode.asp) and restarted. After the Cisco router restarts the lights just keep on turning on and off in sequence (Power, DS, US and Online). I can access the router URL http://192.168.100.1 only briefly. Then the lights turning on/off all over again. It looks like the router cannot restart correctly in bridging mode.

Has anyone came across this before or am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks,
    Jacko

    Hey,

I was wondering if I could get a bit of advice regarding UPC. I want to change to WEP but when I'm in the setup tab of Cisco's router homepage I can't fins an option that lets me do it. The closest i can find is "generate WEP keys" in the security page but it says i can't while I'm in that mode. :/

    Hi all,

I've a Toshiba Laptop that won't connect wirelessly to the internet (LAN cable works fine). Every other laptop and iphone I have etc.. connects no problem.

I've a UPC2425 router. I've checked the security settings and matched them with the settings of all the other devices in the house but it still doesn't work.

The error is says it 'times out'?

    Any advice?

    Cisco EPC2425 - I can't forward ports

    1. I have restarted the router.
    2. My Firewall is disabled.
    2. 'UPnP Enable' is checked.

    4. Throw computer out of window????

    Hi,

Is it normal to only have access to two tabs in the Cisco config page?
It looks like the advanced tab asks for a different login also?
I can access System & Setup but not the other four tabs: Signal/Status/Logs/Advanced
Do you just enable those features in setup?

The interface looks a bit crappy to be honest, but i guess when you know what all the features do you're sorted.

Reading from another thread here that you only have access to the Advanced tab if they gave you access for phone?

See a few people saying this modem is not that good, but i downgraded
from a 30meg plan to 25 and haven't noticed a difference in speed,
getting 22.93 down speed, 2.12 up while using the wireless, not bad pacman.gif

I was pleased to hear this is a modem and router in one unit.

    One other question,
Where's the setting to change that password that's on the back of the modem?

    Thanks later

The EPC2425 is doing my head in recently.

Wifi signal has weakened. I'm right next to it now with an Android phone, and I have a 2 bar out of 3 connection. Wireless also stops after about 18 hours. I have to turn it off and on, and then slowly rotate the antenna until it sends out a signal again. Even then, the signal may not last and I have to rotate it around again.

I would bridge it with another router, but we have the phoneline as well.

Ok so lately I've been noticing a pretty big signal range drop on my wireless router. I live in a 2 bed, not-so-big apartment. Router in bedroom at one end, TV / PS3 etc in living room at the other end.
For about a week now the signal has dropped in the living room. I'm lucky to get a connection and if I do, it drops very often. Laptop, mobile and PS3 will often lose the connections (phone most of all)
I can actually stand at the exact point in the apartment (hallway between bedroom and living room) where the signal drops dramatically. Full in bedroom - step hallway - 4 bars - move phone to other side of my body - Nothing or one bar if lucky.

I've been debating disabling the wireless on the UPC router and connecting another router to do the wireless job. Thinking of getting THIS E4200

I've tried the usual power cycles, changing wireless channels etc. but nothing has made a difference.
Any ideas on this router? Has anyone experience with it? Or has anyone some pointers I could try on the POS - UPC router?

    Many Thanks.

    Nox

    Wireless Access Control,
    Check For Connected Clients
Change your wireless password under Wireless Security "WPA Pre-Shared Key"
    It's ok to be paranoid

What do I need to do to allow utorrent work with UPC's Cisco EPC2425 please?

Flood protection is off and I have enabled UPnP on the modem but utorrent is still telling me there is a problem with my network settings.

I have been testing with my software firewall off, and also bittorrent worked fine with my old broadband.

I'm guessing packet loss is a pretty bad thing to have...(EPC2425)

    57961494.png

It was 80-90% last night... Any way to fix it on this modem or is it a UPC issue?
