Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

looking for cheap HDMI cable adapter

Hi there, I am looking to connect a PC to an old TV that only has scart connections. The PC has a VGA port, though i could stick in either a DVI or HDMI graphics card (I happen to have either handy to use if necessary).
So what i am looking for is some sort of adapter that would allow connectivity from the PC to the TV - but i am looking to do it relatively on the cheap. There are plenty of adapters on ebay and amazon etc but they all seem to do upscaling etc and are really expensive, from 50 pounds sterling upwards. Is there any such thing as a cheap adapter simply to allow the connection, without any upscaling etc, that would be reasonably priced? I would be happy with either HDMI/DVI/VGA to scart adapter...
    Many thanks

Theres no such thing I'm afraid.

HDMI is all digital , and extremely high bandwidth digital at that.
In order to take that signal , decode it , convert it to analog and pass it to an old TV you need a lot of sophisticated electronics and that doesnt come cheap.

Not to mention the fact that HDMI is protected by HDCP ( high definition content protection ) and any product that circumvents this is going to be on the grey side of legal.

Watch out for those conmen on ebay and in the Amazon marketplace selling cables with a HDMI connector on one end and an analog cable on the other , because of the nature of the signal such cables cannot possibly work. They are just a scam.
