I haven't had a good hifi setup in years. Finally decided to pull some cash together for a nice audio setup. I was looking at the sales PDF on the richer sounds site and quite liked the Marantz and Tannoy setup. Though I'd like to swap out the cd player for an LP player (richer sounds guys, possible?). Quite liked the Sony PSLX300.

This is mainly for a dwindling LP collection but i intend to add a cd player in at a later stage.

I've about 350-450 to play with and might be able to drag that up a bit more. Thoughts, opinions? If it's in store deals that's fine, I might be able to pop up this or next weekend.

    Cheers!

    Stakey,

    Thanks for the post-

    Here is a suggestion:

    Ion Profile LP: http://www.richersounds.com/product/turntables/ion/profile-lp/ion-profile-lp

    Marantz PM6003: http://www.whathifi.com/review/Marantz-PM6003/

    Cambridge Audio S30: http://www.whathifi.com/Review/Cambridge-Audio-S30/

Normal recommended retail is approx £490 - I can do that system at £399.95 (we are expecting fresh PM6003's in very shortly - they are like hen's teeth at the moment!)

If you wanted to upgrade - the 1st bit I would look at is the Turntable as the Marantz/Cambridge are well capable of working with a better turntable - I would look at the excellent Marantz TT42 - this would add £80 to the total budget but would sound radically better!

Keep me posted if we can assist,

    ATVB,

Hi John, thanks for getting back to me.

Sounds great but I'm heading up north now and wouldn't mind getting the whole set up today, is there another amp you'd recommend or should I hang on for the marantz?

    Stakey,

great! we would love to see you in store,

I would go for the Denon PMA710ae - it's a little bit more expensive than the Marantz at £349.95 but we would just add £29.95 to the system price ie £429.95 for:

    PMA710Ae
    Ion Profile LP
    Cambridge S30

If you are heading up - take a printout of this or tell the guys that I have skyped them a link to the shopfloor for this thread so they won't look at you in that strange blank wondering fashion........

Make sure the guys pay your parking whilst you are in the shop with us!

John, listening to some Kraftwerk on my S30's, via the Denon PMA710Ae and Marantz TT-42. One word... AWESOME! Thanks for the recommendations and kudos to the lads in the shop... Especially Patrick on his recommendation on the Marantz, he really sold it when I arrived
