First off, I wasn't having a go before it's construed that I was. I was merely saying that having a go at someone for calling Belichick 'hoodie' isn't exactly a really offensive name

Who said you were having a go, because I certainly never said it. I just said there was no comparison in comparing a perceived insult for the HC of this team thread and a comment made about some unrelated guy looking for a bit of compo. Now lets talk about football instead of this silliness.

If bradys gona play till 40 when do ye feel ye will trade Ryan mallet and how much do ye expect to get for him very talented player I rate him highly

Hard to know. I really like Mallet and I'm really looking forward to seeing him in preseason. So it would be probably easier to answer this question at the end of August. Mallett has a fantastic arm and is a pocket QB, which is how I like them. With Hoyer gone, it will now be easier to see how he's doing. Right now, I'd be happy enough if Mallett was willing to sit tight, stay where he is a learn even more from Brady. He'd be more than ready to take over then imo. But god forbid if anything happened to Brady, I would have no problem to see Mallett stepping up even now.

So I don't want to see him traded tbh. But if the team did consider it, good preseason work will only raise his stock. A couple of teams did come sniffing before the draft, but the Pats are reported to have said a 1st rounder or nothing. I certainly wouldn't see them settling for anything less than a second round pick. But despite some rumours, I think they really weren't interested in losing Mallett.

There are many disrespectful names iv herd him called I just don't think he would give a damn if he was called that

Of course he doesn't give a damn, his record speaks for itself. Haters are always gonna hate anyway.

I gave you a reply and now you don't like my responses to you and you take a shot at me with a silly assumption. I never said you were trolling. I never said you were being disrespectful either. But yet you have a go. Fair enough.

What I don't get is why bothers you so much and why do you feel the need to throw in the jab at the bottom of your post in bold? You seem to be making this a tad more personal than it was in the beginning. Whether I am protective of the thread or not is frankly none of your business or your place to say unless you became a mod recently.

And still not getting it in reference to this.

Look you make all the silly assumptions you want and take offense to something I never accused of. You have made more of a deal of this than needed to be and all because you didn't like what I had to say.

Listen forget it. I wasn't having a go and I don't want to derail the thread any further. Just wanted to make a point initially but this is just going to go around in circles.

I never said you mentioned anything about 'haters'. I just made the point that Belichick doesn't give a crap what he's called, his record speaks for itself.

    No?
Cue you saying you're not being protective, that we're all trolls, everyone is having a go at the Pats etc.

    Fair enough.

And here we go. Hopefully we might start getting a clearer picture of where this is going now.

To make light of a serious situation.

It'd be funny if it turned out that the police were just trolling the media and arresting Hernandez for unpaid parking tickets.

    Patriots have released Aaron Hernandez...WOW

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,510 ✭✭✭Hazys

Wow...he hasn't even been found guilty yet.

I think by releasing him they take a massive cap hit. If they waited till he went to jail they could get all the money they paid him back like the Falcons did with Vick.

You'd have to think the Patriots have the heads up on what the charges are going to be and decided to bail out now.

    Ya i guess they know.

Its the right thing to do. We don't need scum like that on our team.

    Team statement on the release:
The team also issued this statement: “A young man was murdered last week and we extend our sympathies to the family and friends who mourn his loss. Words cannot express the disappointment we feel knowing that one of our players was arrested as a result of this investigation. We realize that law enforcement investigations into this matter are ongoing. We support their efforts and respect the process. At this time, we believe this transaction is simply the right thing to do.”

It would seem that they are in the loop about the extent of the charges if they released him alright, but again, gonna just let it play out over the day...

plus an almost certain ban from the nfl and media circus when/if he comes back.

Hopefully it's a quiet off season now.

Amen, fook him, he's not a Patriot player anymore and we don't have anything to do with him.

Probably should now move this discussion out of the Patriots thread also.

Crazy world. I wonder what the NFL would be like if more teams took such action when players are involved in criminal activity (not only extreme cases like this).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,369 ✭✭✭UnitedIrishman

    Right move by the Pats.

If he's innocent or guilty, they need to move away and let Hernandez deal with the charges levelled at him whilst knowing what they have squad-wise going into the season. Can't have it hanging over the team all year and taking up a squad spot when they need every receiver they can get at the minute.

As information unfolded Hernandez just looked guiltier and guiltier. The wording of the Pats statement strongly hints he'll be charged with murder or as an accessory.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,416 ✭✭✭FreeOSCAR

Fair play to the Pats on this one. Any NFL fan would agree on that.

If what the chap done is true than he's an utter Scumbag and shouldn't be allowed play for a long while.

In saying that, I presume the Rams will be looking at him closely.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

You just know Jim Schwartz is trying to convince Martin Mayhew to put in a call to Hernandez!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,546 ✭✭✭Masked Man

God damn you Paully I was just coming here to make a Lions joke!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46,221 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

I'm actually shocked Hernandez has been released by Pats.

With a presumption of Innocent until proven guilty, I would have thought they felt duty bound to stand by their player until the facts came to light.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,546 ✭✭✭Masked Man

    Hernandez Thread

thing could on for a while and as Hazyz said probably doesn't belong in the Pats thread.

    Jesus, what an idiot.

Step 1: Become superstar sportsman in your early 20's.
    Step 2: Become multi millionaire.
    Step 3: Don't kill anyone.*

    HOW DO YOU FAIL THAT.

    *Allegedly.
