Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

They look nice, they drive nice, they usually have a higher spec than an equivalent German car (e.g.leather) at the same price point.

    They are usually cheaper, too.

I have an 06 1.9Tid since 08, and it has given good service - I bought it with 60k kms on it iirc. - it is getting an alternator today, at 130k kms, still on original clutch etc. Has had new drop links (€36), and 2 x shocks (warranty), and 4 x tyres, and I got the timing belt done on time (€450), it will need brake pads fairly soon. Averages 43-45mpg. Engine is gorgeous. I personally find the 17" Sports Wheels and low profile tyres ruin the ride, but they were a std fit on the Sport models. Me, I'd go to 16" in a heartbeat (and cheaper tyres, as well.......).

Being a GM product, most parts are easy and economical to buy, anyway, if you do need them.

It is lovely on the motorway, get it to 65-70, put it on cruise, and it just sips along.......

I like it a lot. People say they give trouble, but my brother is on his 4th one, with no issues, and it has proven far more reliable than the Mazda that preceded it, and infinately better than the B6 Passat at work.........ymmv and all that.

Bought at the right price, I can't really see any negatives.

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Ive had 2 Saabs and no trouble with them. Nice car and good spec. I changed mine this year as i now do more city driving. I found the petrol a bit costly in the city but if your out on open roads mainly it is fine.

Most of Saab's running gear is sourced from GM (and their higher end at that too) but not call of the petrol engines are, and this is where problems can arise. IIRC the 2 litre turbo petrols have timing chains which can stretch and fail, resulting in costly rebuilds.

An account manager I used to deal with also had a 2.0T where the oil seals in the turbo went on the motorway, and the engine consumed all of the oil in the sump very rapidly. He sold the car for scrap because he couldn't get an engine anywhere, and Saab wanted the price of a new house to supply a short one.

Personally I'd go for a 1.9TiD. A good solid motor. And an engine with Fiat DNA in it :D

Why stick with the 9-3s only? Try other Saab models like the 9-5 ( I am biased tho:o).I am not keen on the 9-3s looks TBH, but that's just me.But a dam site better than than your average boring focus, almera, avensis, etc.Out of the ordinary.
