Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Well folks,

I was hoping you could help me out with a bit of advise.
I've a baby on the way and need to trade up on the starlet we currently drive about the place.
We're looking to spend up to 5 grand. The only criteria I have at the moment is that there needsto be a decent amount of boot space, small enough engine (circa 1.4) and that it doesn't drink petrol.

I know it's a bit of a broad question but I'd really appreciate any suggestions.

Oh yeah looking to trade in/sell the starlet too, if that makes any difference.

First of all, don't even attempt to trade in the Starlet as you will get feck all for it from a garage. Sell it privately by sticking it up on the likes of donedeal.ie, it should sell there no problem. You can then negotiate a better discount off the new car as you will not have a trade in.

Regarding the new car, test drive hatchback cars like the Ford Focus, Mazda 3 and Skoda Octavia as they have very practical boots for prams/buggies and the other stuff that goes with a baby in the car.

I caught a couple of dodgy reviews for the Octavia's engine....is there any truth in this?

I;ve had the wee starlet for 5 years now and never had so much as a bulb burn out, would hate to wind up with a money pit car.
