Sorry I know this is prob done to death but I rang the local Health Centre twice today regarding Rent Allowance and twice I left details for somebody to 'get back to me'...never happened.

I just want to know am I eligable. I'm 26 years old, living with my partner who is the same age and working full time as a teacher. I'm unemployed since October and recieving Welfare payment of 147 euro per week. Of this I have to pay 60 per week off a student loan becuase I was never given a grant, so I have about 80 euro per week to pay lving expenses.

Our monthly rent is 550 euro per month, this is paid entirely by my partner as I do not have any means to pay it. Obviously this is unfair on her, so I'm wondering if I will be eligable for some kind of rent allowance??

    David.

Sorry to say mate but i would say you would have no hope of getting rent allowance if your partner is working full time, it's a crazy system but thats the way they do it.

Probably thought that would be the case alright, feck. They already turned me down for a medical card. Thanks anyway..

That is fraud and is what you shouldn't do. Banned for a week.

How can you ban them? That person asked a question, they didn't make a suggestion.

Read the forum charter. We do not suggest social welfare fraud on this forum - it is a ban for 1 week.
Also please do not question moderator action on thread and drag a thread off topic. If you have an issue you take it to PM.

Can believe you expect them to ring you back dont hold your breath :)
I'd go down to them and see what they say it may well be a NO but no harm in asking
