things to do in Clare in your 30s...

Simply put, I'm a man in his late 30s and i am bored! I need to find new ways to socialise other than trips to the pub. I'm driving my wife and kids crazy at this point!

I play squash, but don't know anyone to play against, and when I asked at the squash club they said i'd struggle to find a game unless i knew someone.

I like rugby, but am past the point of playing as a result of knee injuries. is there much social life at Ennis RFC?

    Creative writing clubs? Book clubs?

Or....... do I try and start a club of my own just for anyone who is bored and wants to get to know other people? we could do cinema trips, theatres, concerts, sports events, anything. Even just sitting down for a coffee or a beer now and again.

any suggestions, or anyone want to to join my new "club"?????

Try joining the Civil Defence, Red Cross, Order of Malta, Johns ambulane or a similar organisation.
Maybe take up a martial art?

I just moved back down here from Dublin. There is a great Yelp group up there, but there doesn't seem to be many up for it down here...yet.

We had weekly events and monthly events up there - great craíc!

If we could get more people involved down here maybe they would sponsor some events (i.e. free booze!)? ;)

I say 'yet' because it is the new hot thing in America right now. Google just offered them a billion dollars to buy them out, and they refused. Like Facebook, it will make its way here but it will be a year after it becomes mega big in the states, which is happening as we speak.

Anyway, once or twice a month they have an outing to a pub or restaurant and the venue has free samples of various menu items for everyone, and all attendees review the place on the website.

Then if you review enough stuff you get invited to join the Elite Squad, totally free, and they do an extra event for the Elites that also includes free drink during the events.

Alas, I am hoping more people will join up in Clare so we could have similar events here sure as I am in my 30's, live in Clare, and drive my wife and kid mad all week as well!

the Yelp thing sounds right up my street, just signed up for it now in fact!

So how do you get other people involved??? I'd be more than happy to try and help drum up some support for anything involving food and drink! PM me if you need any details.

I'm also in my 30's and have moved back to Clare during the past year...I love the idea and would be really interested in getting something like this going as a way of meeting new people from here and generally having a laugh! I'm a girl by the way.

Food, drink, cinema, theatre, concerts, sports events....all sound fantastic...

Some of the fora here seem to have very active social groups so it would be lovely to encourage that here and get a few more regular posters into the forum and out having some fun...maybe even a boards beers at some point:D

Also the Clare Crusaders have a running club, walking club and cycling club if anybody is interested in that side of things, they have a Facebook page and a website and they take part in lots of events during the year whether its a marathon or a 10k you are interested. All the money raised by the athletes goes to providing free treatment for sick children in Clare.

I just added ye to my friends list on Yelp. I am working on setting up a UYE (Unofficial Yelp Event). That just means it will be for Yelpers, but Yelp won't be paying for anything. ;)

It will be a start. I'm thinking of getting the other three or four Yelpers in the area and doing a monthly or biweekly UYE - go out for dinner and drinks or something like that sure.
