Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Looking to watch Sky Player on a Samsung Galaxy S.

Has anyone managed to do this? Is there a Silverlight App or extension available? I'd rather not have to root the phone at this point if possible.

I looked a couple of months ago and there was nothing.

I'd say there will be a Sky Mobile app like on iPhone before there's a Silverlight app.

Sky Mobile? I downloaded a Sky + App On Tuesday-gives you programme guide and allows you to record remotely-is that what you are looking for?

    Ok, I get you now.

Sky Mobile is a subscription service whereas Sky Player is free if you have a Sky TV sub, right?

I seen someone with Sky Mobile on their iphone which basically lets you watch same tv channels on your phone. Not sure if it's subscription service or not, he may have said he got it free for 12 months.

Edit: you get same tv stations as you have on your Sky sub at home so yes it's technically subscription service.

There is no way of watching sky on android phones :) . You could try SPB TV. Its free on android market. Maybe you might find the channels you like there?

Hmm..can you explain what you mean by 'Direct Viewing'?

I got sent a link that was supposed to allow me to watch RTE Player on Android, but it doesn't seem to work.

Also, I sometimes watch sport from atdhe.net, but the streams don't seem to load on Android.

I'm using the stock browser on the Samsing Galaxy S.

You need to be running froyo for Rte player to work just in case you're still on Eclair.

well for RTE you can use RTE application which is free on the android market.

No, I'm on Froyo alright. (Build XWJPA if that makes any difference-just got the phone on Tuesday, so am assuming that it's up to date).

Can you just got to RTE Player via the normal web or is there a specific link you should use for Android?

Yeah just Google RTE player and go in that way.

Froyo can run flash just like a PC. Just go to normal webpage and watch videos as usual. If you get redirected to a mobile site you may need to change your useragent. Also maybe you need to install flash plugin from market, depending on what device you got. HTC Sense devices have it builtin and don't need plugin. Dunno about galaxy.

Sky should get a slap, why use a proprietary technology? Flash isn't much better tbh tho I suppose.

i like silverlight ;) i always found the way they used it was nicer than just plain flash content.

    Cheers-works alright. That's RTE sorted!

I tweeted at Adrian Weckler about Silverlight for Android and he replied that it's one of the most frequently asked for Android apps. Hopefully someone acts on it soon.

I'm pretty sure that Sky Mobile is a separate subscription service, i.e. even if you have Sky at home, you still pay for Sky Mobile separately. Sky Player is 'free' if you have a Sky at home sub.

Silverlight is just microsofts ripoff of flash. HTML5 will kill them both hopefully.

As long as I can get Sky Player, I'll be happy!

Well it will be funny to see :) Google moving away from HTML5, Windows Phone to get HTML5 in coming updates. As apple's response theres an app for that :)

    so meh :)

Erm Apple's response was actually "we are gonna support html5, so we don't need flash"? Google are moving AWAY form it now!? Wait... what?

Dude read up a bit. Apple will support parts of it. Might be a long while till you see it.
