Marmalade gone wrong!

Hi there I'm in the process of making marmalade from scratch. I put all in the ingredients together without thinking. Thus the sugar went in too early. I am currently allowing the pot to simmer. Do i continue to simmer and hope for the best or does anyone have any other advice? Thank you!
