Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

More details please. Was it working previously? What Internet provider are you with? What e-mail program are you using?

This is your problem. Try using smtp.vodafone.ie or call vodafone to see if the address has changed?

That would depend on what e-mail program you're using. If you would provide more infomation it would be easier to help you.

According to Vodafone, their SMTP server is mail.vodafone.ie

    mail.vodafone.ie has address 213.233.128.65

Tcptraceroute shows a routing loop. Maybe the host is down?

    # tcptraceroute mail.vodafone.ie 25
Selected device eth0, address 192.168.1.5, port 41327 for outgoing packets
Tracing the path to mail.vodafone.ie (213.233.128.65) on TCP port 25 (smtp), 30 hops max

Tools would be on the menu across the top of Outlook Express.

Now can you also tell us what Internet Provider you're using (e.g. Eircom. Vofafone, UPC etc.) and what the second part of your e-mail address is, the bit after the '@'?

    1. In Outlook Express, click Tools > Accounts.

    2. Click the Mail tab, and then double-click your e-mail account.

    3. Click the Servers tab.

    4. Outgoing mail server (SMTP) should be set to : mail.vodafone.ie

    5. Disable any authentication for outgoing e-mail. mail.vodafone.ie is quite simple and will accept any e-mails from a Vodafone customer.

Can you post a screenshot of that settings screen 'cause there's something odd going on, it should just work. Had it been working before and if so when did it stop working?

Haven't a clue how to do that but don't worry I've troubled you enough. Thanks for all your help. Apologies for my technical incompetence.

Would you believe my daughter just fixed it for me.

She changed outgoing server to mail.iol.ie and it seems to work for now...

Thanks again for all your help.

No need to be apologise. Hang in there 'cause this should be simple to fix. Here's an example of settings in Outlook Express :

    server_properties.gif

Can you check that the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) is set to mail.vodafone.ie and that the tick-box at the bottom for 'My server requires authentication' is clear?

And can you please answer the question about whether or not it was working okay previously? This is the 3rd time I've asked ;)

No, I had that problem a week ago and Vodafone told me to set the SMTP server to xxx.iol.ie. Instead of xxx.vodafone.ie
