Thanks i am very lucky alright :) Yea i had just sold it then! I was a little unlucky with that car. Its a long story but shortly summarized i had an order in with the tvr factory for a custom built tvr sagaris. Unfortunatly halfway through the build after visiting it and seeing it nearly finished the tvr factory closed down and the car was forever to be left unfinished. So i bought a brand new one which had been outside for a few months of its life at a dealers. It was one of the last off the line but at the time there was a ton of troubles within the factory and the workers were not happy. So it unfortunatly came with a fair few electrical woes. It was fixed up after the first year or 2 but after a year of constant hassle i had lost faith in the car and it did break my heart.

I still think its one of the craziest cars to drive and look at but it wasn't the one i ordered and just wasn't right for me! The guy who owns it now already had one when he bought mine so had 2 then ;) The Sagaris was actually the most reliable tvr and i know a hell of alot of the uk owners and none had trouble. If only i had of been in the uk it would have been sorted far faster but being over here and only getting it to a specialist once a year is no good for fixing problems! I do miss the car but the way i see it is if it had of been nicer to me and not pissed me off so much then i would have kept her for life ;)

I take it from looking at the reg's you are from Waterford?,I wouldnt say you drive them around the roads much because i have never seen any of them around, and i would remember, very nice cars :)

Indeed i am. All are driven as much as i can! The morgans not mine but it's in the garage and is mostly the sunday car. I've used it most of the time though. The lotus is the everyday car so it is highish mileage. The tvr would have had higher mileage if it didnt break down every second longer journey and the diablo had more mileage put on by me in the first 2 years of ownership then it had in 7 years in the uk! Though in the past year or two the morgan and diablo havent been out as much as they were before that as peoples reactions aren't the kindest in the current climate.

Average mileage per year would be:

    Lotus Exige - 25k
    Diablo - 15k
Tvr (before it went) - 15k
    Morgan - 5k

I don't think any car no matter how special should be a garage queen and all cars have been tracked on various different tracks in the uk and ireland. As well as airfields and many long trips with various forums/rallys/meets :)

Top Gear did a survey/compiled a list of top 100 fastest cars. Saying that speed is all relative (100mph in an M5 won't feel fast but 100mph in an 80's hot hatch will tighten the buttock area rapidly), it makes for an interesting list.

The link to it on the Top Gear site seems to be broken as there was a nice little spiel on each car. LINK

But I did find this link from a forum with the list and it's the spiel. It's an interesting read if you have the time.

Makes me smile coz I made the top 3 in the list :D

Oh don't get me wrong its still out alot! But in fairness at 10mpg it's not the car to be doing the shopping run with. That's not to say i havent showed up in tesco or lidl with it, i have. Best has to be going through drive thrus though ;)

If im around the ford ill be heading to the vee that sunday but unfortunately the Diablo wont be out. It's heading back to the uk for its service so have her off the road for a few months. First time she'll be away for so long since shes been here but it will be all the sweeter when she's back at the start of the good weather!

That's true enough you can definitely feel faster in a mini then a ferrarri ;) Good list though its surprising the atom is 99 and tears the head off you when you accelerate. Plus the exige s is 73 places further down then the elise even though its exactly the same car except the exige is faster confused.gif a few odd placements but i like their style of thinking!

Well lidls not my favorite shop but i was desperate ;)

I do indeed, i met him on this years cannonball! Really nice guy and i always wanted ot meet him since i heard there was another, he was saying the same thing. It's crazy there's 2 here when the grand total in the uk is only circa 30 cars! :D

Yeah he seems sound alright, I meet him out side a motor factors 2 summers ago and we were having a chat about it. His wife is quality!:D
When I was living down in Waterford in 2009 for FAS I saw you driving the Lambo a few times. Cracking sound from it!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,080 ✭✭✭✭Big Nasty

My buddy did the Cannonball last year in a '65 Mustang and it never missed a beat. In fairness the car is really well set up - I've never seen a muscle or pony car to handle or perform like it.

It's the red GT350 rep in this vid (mine is the Trans Am doing the first burnout!)

@funxy ... was it your Morgan I spotted on the M6 (Northbound) heading for Birmingham last July ... It was a male driving it. I actually pulled in front of it just so it would have to over take me but he was quite content to potter along behind me. !

True his wifes lovely! She was one of the few ladies there who would talk to you when they realised i wasn't the kind of girl to have the latest gucci handbag ;) I do love the sound, it's actually kind of quiet inside once the windows are up. Hence why i always drive with them a bit open :D

Was it last september gone? Thats a lovely trans am! Were you at the phoenix park races back in 2007? I believe there were a few muscle cars there that year doing parade laps?

Pretty positive it wasn't! 98% of the time theres a female driving! I've been over in the uk in it a fair few times but not in the recent past. Birmingham is fairly close to the morgan factory and there's 1 other Morgan in the purple flip paint color we have :)

the color was similarish but it was a W or WW reg as far as I can remember !!

Pfft! Lamborghinis, TVRs, Lotuseses; the fastest car on boards is 535d's Evo. It went from his driveway to Aidys in the click of a mouse.

Seriously though, Funky, much respect. That's some collection of metal, and er...plastic.

i hate threads like this ! seriously, all you guys who stayed on in college, poker players and bank robbers always have nice fast cars... where as im stuck in a 1.3 liter susuki swift atm  ( to be fair... first through third is short enough of a trip... anything over 50 mph, forget about it )

My shi-vic is sold now so give me a few months and a few hail marrys and i might upgrade. :pac:

She's a girl, which means a girl with motors like that gets double street cred than a man with motors like that!

I see what you did there :D.

Funky, di yiu want to adopt someone? I know a nice 24 year old kid looking for new garadge, damn, i mean home :d

Anyway back on topic. I wouldnt be near fastest cars on boards, but my good old girls dont do too bad :)

Skyline is 399hp, i did gone up to 245 km/h on standart 0.9 boost. It still was accelerating, but i just didnt chanced, was scary enought allready. I presume if i set it to 1.4 boost i get better figure. Got that figure from power fc ecu, as standart dials in skylines are up to 180km, it was allready going for second ring on speedo :D.

Mazda mx5 is only 140 hp, but i still find it a fast car. Skyline is like a train, loads of power, but when it comes to handling, you just cant beat mx5.

Its more fun to drive slow car fast, then fast car slow.

I really think that funky should win this one, but best place you can get is second :(. Bmw535d has the fastest cars on boards.ie :(
