Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Kobalt Computers - Getting Money Back?

So I placed an order with these guys at the start of October.
After nearly 3 months of delays, telling me the laptop was ready to ship, then telling me they were waiting on parts etc, I cancelled.

On cancelling I was told that the DSR states that they must refund my money within 30 days. Guess what, 30 days have passed, no money.
So I've paid out €1400 and nearly 4 months later I have no laptop, no money.

I've contacted them again to let them know I'll be contacting the authorities relating to their breach of the DSR, but I was wondering if anyone else has dealt with these sort of issues before?

Is there anything else I can do to help get my money back?

Any luck getting your money back?
Have they offered you a proper explanation or even an apology?

Relative was thinking of purchasing from this crowd but if this is how they carry on then they should be avoided at all costs.

I think if you paid for it by credit card, then you may have a chance of getting the money back..

Is it possible the company gone out of business?

    Got it back eventually.
Put in a dispute with my credit card at mid-February and it was paid within a week.

Whole thing was 5 months, 3 waiting for a machine, 2 waiting for a refund.
    I'd avoid them...

    Hi guys

I am in the same situation at the moment. I ordered my notebook in April (!) and they had trouble finding some parts for it (so they said) so the whole thing dragged out until now. Last week after 5 months I was fed up with them and said I want my money back.

Hopefully I will get the 1400 pounds back without hassle.

It's just so strange, a friend ordered his notebook from there 2 years ago and it all went fine, he got it after 6 weeks and is still really happy with it. He recommended Kobalt to me and I never thought they are so deep in ****.

Should've been warned, now that I took a closer look so many things seem dodgy about them: Phone number doesn't work, Twitter account is gone...

    F**** hell.

    Cheers

    Bloody hell.

I ordered from them at the start of september, but I cannot wait as I need the laptop for my uni course.

Seeing as you got the refund from your credit card and then they dealt with kobalt, Do you know if you can do this if you paid by debit card and get the refund from the bank?

@wsmccusker I am waiting for my money since 4 weeks now (the refund was promised to happen within 7-10 days....)

kobalt doesn't react to my messages anymore and calling them is impossible too.

call your bank asap! also, if kobalt keep ignoring you file a complaint at "consumer direct" www.oft.gov.uk/consumerredirect?action=complain and seek legal advise.

    good luck :-)

Kobalt have gone bust! See http://kobaltcomputers.co.uk/

Please can all that the company still owes money to get in touch with me so we can try and get our money back together. They owe me more than 1400 pounds.

    <SNIP>

    Thanks
