    assuming you didn't reimburse them

    Silly question perhaps ....... if you don't pay Income Tax, are you eligible for relief on medical expenses paid ?

    Very old thread I know, but I've a quick question. I didn't know you could claim tax back on the amount you didn't get back from your health insurance company.

    e.g. if I get 40 back from VHI off a €65 doctors receipt, I can claim off of revenue for the €25.

    My question is though, if I've claimed already for other medical related items (such as medication etc) for the last 4 years, can I then retrospectively get a percentage back from the revenue for the remaining amounts I couldn't claim for from VHI, for the last 4 years?

    Yes you can claim . You will get 20% of it back as long as you have tax paid
